BETTER THAN TRASH CAN LIDS

I purchased these cymbals pretty much knowing what to expect and so that I could have some better cymbals to go with the cheap Chinese Mapex QR set I am selling. They are at least better than the trash can lids that came with the Mapex. And now I can at least say it comes with Zildjian cymbals. But as far as the cymbals go they are fine for practicing and don't sound that horrible if played right. They are also very shiny. I think the 13" hats are the best part of the set. One thing to note; I bought these brand new and they had fingerprints all over them right out of the box. No big deal, just something to note.

These cymbals are ok and if you're on a tight budget or just starting then you could consider them. However, in the long haul it's just not worth it to spend money on cymbals you WILL want to replace in a year or so. They aren't overly impressive in any way...the hihat is sloppy, but gives a good enough sound; the crash is distinct but isn't the sound anybody is really looking for; the crash/ride will only serve to make you realize that a true, quality ride is what you want. In general, these cymbals can be described as "good enough." I don't recommend purchasing them.

The only reason I bought these cymbals is because they are so cheap. The hi-hats are the best part of the pack, which is why I gave it as high of a rating as I did. The ride could be better, and the thing that made me completely regret buying these cymbals: the crash. It has to be the worst sounding crash cymbal I have ever heard. To me, it sounds like a large splash cymbal, and that is not a good thing. If you care at all about the explosiveness of a drum set, I highly recommend you don't purchase this cymbal pack.

I got a set of these from my friend (gently used), and I am very pleased with them. The hihats can provide a nice tit-tit sound while closed, to a cool sloshy groove when open. The crash is great for ending those gut-busting fills, but I don't recommend whacking it too hard because it will probably end up cracking. The crash/ride is the weak link here; it gets the job done as a ride, but I enjoy it much more as a crash after picking up the 20" ZBT ride, which I also recommend just because it matches the rest of them.

Overall, I would recommend this set to all beginners who want to start off with some quality cymbals for a good value. After all, they do carry the legendary Zildjian name, and they live up to it.

I purchased these symbols recently and they aren't bad but I can tell that they are cheap. I will stick with them for a while until I have more money to get better ones. Good for beginners. Good for the money.
