I received this cymbal as a Christmas present and I couldn't be happier. This cymbal has an amazing bell that has a bright/mellow ring. Its not overwhelming, in fact this cymbal isn't loud but provides the perfect equalization among your other cymbals. The only con first and foremost is the price. The price is honestly pretty ridiculous but it is worth it in the end.

Great Ride

I recently purchased a small set compared to my current set-up and decided to keep it simple with the cymbals. I chose a 14 K Light set of Hi-Hats, a 20 K Custom Left Side Ride, and a 21 Special Dry Ride; I couldn't be happier. I had read and heard great reviews on the Special Dry, but was hesitant making the purchase expecting something really dry with sort of a "tink" sound, but fortunetly to my suprise, no tink, only great sound. This is a great, versatile, well-rounded cymbal. The bell sounds wonderful, as well as the ride (which when played around with has many sound abilites), and the crash... get out of here... she EXPLODES. Granted the cymbal is not very loud, it still fits perfect into every situation I have put it in. Get this cymbal, you won't be dissappointed.

Solid

Reviewer's Play Style: Blues rock/Classic rock a little heavier stuff too
Iv owned this ride for a year and a half now and its been an awesome addition to my kit. When i picked this ride i wanted something versatile and then some. This ride has been used for everything from blues rock and classic rock to metal. I'v also used it for jazz and some 40's swing in a musical that i played in. There is nice stick definition all the way up the shoulder and a crisp, but full bell sound. A thick wash can be formed about 2" from the edge or a moderately clear sound up further with a heavier stick. Over all, a great cymbal. But like any musical interment, it takes time to really know this cymbal.

One of Big Z's BEST!

Since 2004 or so, Zildjian has been making these RIGHT. This is a very dry, but musical cymbal, that has many "personalities", depending on where it is struck, and with what. With a typical jazz 7A/nylon stick, it is dry and classy played near the bell. Lay into it with one of those Rock Stix bats, and it will bellow quite nicely. Smack the edge with a 2B, and it will make the Oriental Crash of Doom fold its tent and go home. Probably the best setup you could ask for would be to have two of these, one for a ride, and one for a crash! Or just have one for use as a crash/ride, it's that versatile. prior to 2004, some of these sound like cheap, knock-off trash can lids, but now they are almost all sophisticated, versatile instruments. Don't like the look? Get it chrome plated if you want, just get it! ...get it?
