The Zildjian A Custom Projection Crash Cymbal was developed in response to requests for the heavier, louder volume needed in rock settings. The Zildjian Sound Lab created the Projection series cymbals with the assistance of Vinnie Colaiuta. Zildjian A Custom cymbals are made using radical rotary hammering techniques, thin weights, and a striking, brilliant finish.

Two different kinds of Projection Crashes

This cymbal is great, I have the 17, and the 18... the 17 is a bit older, and has a different bell then the 18, and it's louder then the 18 - the 18 has a cup sized bell kind of like a ride which makes it higher pitched, and the 17 has almost a flatter bell, making it a bit darker but still very loud. I think the older projection models have the 'flatter bell', and the newer ones have the round ones, if I could choose I would have the flatter bell, but I'm happy with both

IT Rocks! I got it used in 2005. I beat the crap out of it at live shows and in the studio. She's all scuffed up but still sounds like the day I got her. Also the bell sounds awesome and it cab be a light ride.

I bought the 16" back in March '09, and have been in love since. Amazing. It cuts through with a beautiful, powerful tone, yet can be played softly, as well. It shimmers like glass. As far as I'm concerned, too, you can't beat the look of the A Customs with their brilliant finish, especially under lights. Highly recommended!

Just got the 18 inch one. Let me tell you, it is amazing. Takes about two days to break the cymbal in to get that really nice sound. You will not be dissapointed. This cymbal really cuts through the mix and will sound great with a full band. Get this.

My Favorite Crash

This dish has a very loud and dark projection that is the best complement for a distorted guitar I've found yet. When you ride it, it has a very heavy and full sound that you just have to hear to believe. Go out and listen to one, I guarantee you'll want one for your kit. (I use the 17)
