Great all-purpose ride

I have both the 20" and 22". Both have just enough stick definition and wash to be excellent all-purpose rides. Short decay. Not as tinny-sounding as the A Series or as dark as the K. The 22" has a lower pitch but it's slightly greater wash and volume gets you heard where the higher pitch of the 20" accomplishes this. Either may be used for everything from jazz to classic rock. But you'll need more ping and volume for metal, etc. ... or, as so many seem to do nowadays, just thrash on a crash cymbal and call it playing ride.

Not For Me

I have the 20" and it just sounds like crap. I didn't buy it separately though, it came with a cymbal pack. It's really just too loud and it's pitch is nothing good. It doesn't fit any style of music I play and definitely not a jazz one either. I don't like how it's so thick, and the bell (though it is loud) is very small and sometimes I miss it. I would not recommend this ride to anyone.

Great sounding and versatile

I've had a 21" and 22" in these A Custom Medium Rides now. In my opinion, you need to try these at least minimally somewhere (tapping in a store would even help). I think you need to know what sound you need for what you're playing so you can choose the right one for you. The 21" allows a player to find a clear, sharp bell with ease. The ride pitch is lower than the 20" but higher than the 22". For me the 22" is better because of the lower pitch and potential for greater volume if needed (for Jazz, Classic Rock & Blues-I'm an old guy, been playing a long time). It's not as easy to locate the clear, sharp bell-sound on the 22" but I don't need that often anyway and it is there once you find it. I used to think of A Customs as Rock cymbals but they are great all-round. When recorded, The 21" sounded almost just like a 20" K Custom Medium Ride I used to have except the K was barely darker. I used to play 60's Zildjians and I'll take these A Customs every time over that "much-desired vintage sound".

I searched all around for a versatile and all around great sounding ride for a long time, and this was the best one I found. I own a 20 inch, and it is one of the best sounding cymbals I've ever played. I play lots of styles, and this sounds great for all of them. It also has an awesome bell that is really cutting and clean. It's a little pricey, but I recommend it strongly.
