This Yamaha Tour Custom Floor Tom Drum features a 6-ply maple shell with 60-degree bearing edges that provides clear fundamental tones, delivering warm resonant sustain and clear low-frequency impact, with a wide tuning range.

Air Seal System
All Yamaha wood drums have one thing in common. Yamaha's craftsmen create every drum shell using their exclusive staggered diagonal seam Air Seal System just as they have since 1967. Each two or three-ply master ply is cut to length to very precise tolerances with a diagonal cut on each end. The diagonal seam in the drum shell will not separate, eliminating the need to fill gaps in the bearing edge with filler putty. These plies have glue applied and are then put into the mold by hand, one master ply at a time. The craftsman then inserts an air bag into the mold and inflates it, clamping the shell with even pressure 360 degrees around. This process creates a drum shell that is strong, starts round, and stays round for many years.

60 Degree Bearing Edges
The Yamaha Tour Custom Tom has 60-degree R2 bearing edges. This bearing edge has a rounder profile so that there is more shell to head contact. This gives the drum clarity in the low-end fundamental and added warmth.

YESS Floor Tom Brackets
Tour Custom floor toms use the YESS (Yamaha Enhanced Sustain System). The floor tom brackets are small, minimal contact mounts that are located at the nodal point. They hold the legs securely in place without restricting the vibration of the drum shell.

I ordered the 4 piece Tour Custom, it came with a 12 inch and a 16 inch tom. I ordered this 14 inch to fill in the gap. I was kind-of worried about the color and hardware matching. When it arrived, I put it right next to the 16 inch floor tom and began inspecting. I am very happy to report they are an exact match. Very nice maple shell, great sound, exact same color and finish as the rest of the kit. In my opinion, this one shell is a bit pricey, but all said and done, I am real happy with the kit as a whole, one mounted 12, and two floors, make this a monster kit.

I won this set with this 14 inch floor tom, and it is very punchy. the tour custom drums with the 45degree bearing edges, are awesome to gig with with, the heavy duty hardware and the 6ply maple drum shells give you the advantage of tuning any where you play.. I play all over se texas and I get more complaments on my set not only the looks, but the deep tones, and fantastic punch. we play alternative rock and this is the best set on the market.. forget the others and get what works, and sounds excellent, no matter mic'd or not this are the best product available today for all size rooms hals and gigs.
