The first Yamaha maple drums with 60-degree bearing edges provide clear fundamental tones, delivering warm resonant sustain and clear low-frequency impact. The wood snare drum has full body, cutting high end, and is very articulate at all dynamic levels. Drum shell pack only. Cymbals not included.

Air Seal System
All Yamaha wood drums have one thing in common-Yamaha's craftsmen create every drum shell using their exclusive staggered diagonal seam, Air Seal System just as they have since 1967. Each two or three-ply master ply is cut to length to very precise tolerance with a diagonal cut on each end. The diagonal seam in the drum shell will not separate, eliminating the need to fill gaps in the bearing edge with filler putty. These plies have glue applied and are then put into the mold by hand, one master play at a time. The craftsman then inserts an air bag into the mold and inflates it, clamping the shell with even pressure 360 degrees around. This process creates a shell that is strong, starts round, and stays round for many years.

100% Maple Shell
Tour Custom drum shells are 100% maple. The bass drums are 7-ply 7mm and have a warm, deep tone; the toms are 6-ply 6mm, with lots of warmth and resonance and have a wide tuning range. The matching wood snare drum has body, yet plenty of high end and is very articulate at all dynamic levels.

60 Degree Bearing Edges
All Tour Custom drums have 60-degree R2 bearing edges. This is something new for Yamaha on a maple shell drum set. This bearing edge has a rounder profile so that there is more shell to head contact. This gives the drums clarity in the low-end fundamental and added warmth.

Bass Drum Spurs
Sturdy, yet simple in design; the bass drum spurs hold the bass drum firmly in place even under heavy playing. They are height adjustable using a drum key, and there are steel spikes that can be exposed when extra hold is needed. They fold up compact for transport and are marked with angle indicators so that you can set them up the same every time.

YESS Tom and Floor Tom Brackets
All Tour Custom toms and floor toms use the YESS (Yamaha Enhanced Sustain System). The toms have a mount attached to the shell at the nodal point by two bolts. This system allows the drum shell to vibrate freely for maximum sustain without restricting with where the placement of the drums. The floor tom brackets are small, minimal contact mounts that are located at the nodal point. They hold the legs securely in place without restricting the vibration of the shell.

Ball Clamp and Triple Tom Holder
Tour Custom drum sets includes the TH-945 triple tom holder with Yamaha's tom ball clamp that gives you 360-degree rotation. The ball, made of a super-hard resin, is held in place by a single bolt making angle adjustments on the toms quick and easy. The toms lock firmly in place at virtually any angle you want. This versatile tom holder lets you mount any combination of up to three toms and/or cymbals by using either the standard or the long version of Yamaha's tom ball clamp and CH model cymbal booms.

I'm a Gigging Yamaha drummer (Meaning- I got this Kit for free, and Will try OAK in november DV.) Besides the fact that Yamaha is a awesome company with great people running things, This Kit is a serious kit. Strong point are: Hardware, Very strong and keeps it's new look for a long time. Tone, Is Perfect. The Kick drum Oddly is where I've had to do the most experimenting. It did not sound right for a while trying to use the head without a hole. I use a Mesh head now. Toms sound Great! a little tougher to tune then my old kit, but even when thing are out of tune the response is quick and Bright...Punch. After the toms come into Tune They are just joy to play. I Don't like the finish options. The snare REALLY surprised me. This is your standard Maple snare, and I can get a wide range of tone out of it...Its got that maple sound. Overall its a Really good Kit. I took into into the studio 2ice and Got Fantastic results both times. the YESS mounts are REALLY it. I've heard about them being easy to use, I though yeah yeah so is my Tama starcast. But once you use the YESS you get it. I will not leave Yamaha If I can help it.

Though these are Price fairly Low for the "real" drum set category, I've Gigged with almost everything more or less (DW, Ludwig, SONOR,) and Though This Kit isn't the absolute finest money can buy-of course, there's not a chance It could let one down for the Price. (Except maybe in Finish options.) Drums are very lightweight, Toms Feel Great and have a lot of snap, (no add-on muffling needed)Hardware Feel like it could Never brake. I have 1 cymbal stand Holding 2 crashes and the 2 tom-toms, and it's Great and solid. Snare is pretty versatile and Has that nice Maple crack when you want it. At the moment the Bass drum Seems to be it's lowest point for me, But others say it sings so It's Possibly my heads or tuning. Though Not the Best kit out there, It does stand up against competition. Looking for a Cheaper maple kit? I doubt this could be beat at the moment. Go Yamaha.

I recently purchased a 7 pc Tour Custom drum set, and when I first bought it I couldn't believe the price for a genuine, great sounding 100% maple drum set. The bass drum is powerful and precise, the toms all have warm perfect sound and the snare is fantastic. I've used this kit for several live performances and not only does it sound strong and flawless, but it looks mean too. Overall this drumset is an absolute steal at what it's being sold for. Professional quality looks, sound and style for non-professional price.

i own this kit in sakura white. the finish is very well done, although a bit more pinkish rather than white. i swapped the stock yamaha heads for evans g2 coated on the tom batters, and evans genera resonants on the tom bottoms. on the snare i use an evans genera dry batter, and an evans hazy 200 snare side. the drums are very musical, producing a warm sound with a moderate sustain. the floor tom has a very deep sound. the snare is very good for the price. it has a good crack to it, and a little bit of overtone. the bass drum has a big punch to it fitted with evans eq3 batter and resonant heads. my only gripes are that the ball clamp tom holders from yamaha tend to strip out if you overtighten them. also, if you're a heavy hitter the tom lugs tend to loosen during play quite a bit. i solved this using third party 'tight screws'. overall, this kit is a great value for a working drummer. the drums are very light and easy to move around.
