Stage Custom Birch Shells
100% birch drums are great for beginners or working professionals. Their staggered diagonal seams allow Yamaha to build a thin drum shell that starts round and stays round. The beautiful high-gloss lacquer finish and low-mass lugs allows the drum shells to vibrate for superb tone and sustain. Yamaha's legendary Air Seal System used for shell construction ensures each and every drum shell is of uniform thickness and is perfectly round to achieve pro-quality tone, and durability. FP-8215 Bass Drum Pedal—Single-chain drive pedal provides smooth, quiet action that will satisfy the requirements of any musical style. The pedal, which can be used with any drum set, is manufactured to extreme tolerances in Yamaha's motorcycle factory and will easily withstand the rigors of even the most hard-hitting drummer.

I just got this exact setup in Natural lacquer. Let me tell you, In my 30+ years of playing drum set, I have never come across a better deal than the Yamaha SC birch! Yamaha is the master builder of birch shell drums with the Recording Customs and this mid priced Stage custom proves that Yamaha knows birch! The finish quality and edges are both top notch and the Air Seal process for building these shells makes for a perfectly round drum! The shell and mounting hardware attached to the shells is flawlessly and beautifully chrome plated! I used to own Pearl MMX 4 ply maples prior to getting this kit and I will be honest in saying that these birch Stage Customs sound better. I slapped Evans G2 batters over EC resos on the toms and an Evans GMAD kick batter. WOW! I would NOT hesitate to use this kit for any pro gig or in the studio! The Free hex rack makes this deal a no brainer! The best rack I have ever used..and for FREE??? AWESOME! Take it from someone who knows drums.. The Yamaha Stage Custom Birch is AMAZING! I would hurry before Musiciansfriend cancels this deal! I made the switch!!

I really love this drum set! When you think of Yamaha you dont think drum set, but now, you should! The cymbals are okay but overall i recommend you replace the cymbals, hi hats last. Also, you dont have to but i suggest you replace the heads over time, even though if you tune then right it sounds fine.
