The Yamaha DTXPLORER is an electronic drum set that brings Yamaha's renowned electronic drum technology within reach of the beginner, hobbyist, and educator. The 5-piece electronic drum kit features high-impact single-zone rubber pads with natural feel and rebound, a kick pedal, hi-hat controller module, rack, and coded cabling for easy setup.

At the heart of the DTXPLORER is its compact trigger module, with a 16-bit/32-note polyphony tone generator that produces amazingly realistic, physically modeled voices. Choose from 214 drum and percussion sounds, 22 preset songs, and 32 preset drum kits covering rock, funk, jazz, reggae, and Latin styles. An array of onboard digital effects let you tweak your sound to your liking. Create and store up to 10 custom kits. The module also includes the Groove Check practice feature, a multifunction metronome, backlit LCD display, and simple plug-and-play connections. Auxiliary and MIDI inputs expand the kit's versatility, allowing you to connect to a PC or other device. The headphone output allows quiet practice.

32 Factory Kits, 10 User Kits, 214 Voices
The 32 factory-programmed kits give you a wide variety of kits that can be used in almost any musical situation. The 10 user kits allow you to build custom kits using any of the 214 voices for your particular needs as a musician.

Groove Check with Rhythm Gate
The DTXPL module has Yamaha's popular Groove Check function, but takes it to the next level as a learning tool. You can engage the Rhythm Gate so that when you play out of time the module will mute the drums until you get back in time with the click.

Multi Zone Inputs
The snare input will accept a three-zone pad (not included) giving you the head, rim shot, and cross stick sounds. The cymbal inputs will accept dual zone cymbals and allow cymbal choking.

Includes a Bass Drum Pedal
The DTXPL comes complete with an FP-6210 strap drive pedal so you don't have to purchase a pedal separately.

I would like to start saying that i love this kit. At first i thought it was kinda boring but after changin some things i relised its pretty good. It took me from playing Rock music like AC/DC to playing Blackend death metal such as Behemoth. i have had it for 2 years and its still good. i would recomend buying a third cymbal. i also think after about 3 years u shoudl upgrade to a DTxtreme 3. over all a great kit!!

I purchased this kit in 07. I only was looking for something to make demo's for the "pre recording process" If your looking to get GOOD recordings, due not buy this! go with the td20 or the td12. Also, after awhile the triggers will not work and you will have to replace them. Like I said, its ok, but if I had to do it all over, I would not have bought this.

Great For begginners

This was my first drum kit. It took me from barely even being able to do a simple rock or punk beat to playing Slayer, and other similar bands. Lots of customization so you can get the sound you want out of each and every pad. The 10 user sets come very hand when you play a wide variety of bands and songs that all have very different sounding toms and bass drums.

Get it if you are a beginner or looking for a kit to practice on. For gigging I'd go with a higher-end model.

Yamaha DT is OK in my book.

I bought the Yamaha DT to play with the church rock band, because using my '67 Ludwig set was too much to keep setting up and taking down, then storing. The DT solved that problem with a quick set up, pick up, and go to storage room. Now, for the set and sounds -- overall the range of sounds is very good, but it lacks in the cymbals and hi-hat. Snare, tom tom, and bass sounds are good and full. The set is enhanced by allowing you to program specific sounds to customize a set for yourself. I can also plug into the house PA and not have to lug around an amp. I would buy this set again as it is durable, lightweight, and has yet to show any problems. CraigMK.

I just bought the dtxplorer for recording, after I bought an Alesis, that was horrible, (dont buy Alesis.), The stock drum sounds are GREAT, but they do. When I recored I use drum sounds from another program to get great sounds, but I set it up and I was suprised by how well the triggers worked, they are all right for rubber pads. but it still is an electronic drum set. you are never going to get the real feel of an acoustic set. but for the money I spent I am satisfied.
