Well above average for the money

First, I'm a guitarist, not a drummer. I bought this to do some hobby drumming and have in the event of impromptu jams.

This little kit really impresses me. It's so simple, portable, and durable, yet has really good feel. The frame holds the pads tight, and is easy to set up and adjust. The module is a little difficult to understand, thought without even opening the manual I figured out how to create a kit and access jam tracks, etc.

The sounds are anywhere from very realistic to silly as with most electronic kits. I created a very nice standard 5 piece that would be all I really need, so the rest is candy. Nice reverb effects, plenty of indidvidual sound adjustability, nice 1/4" stereo outs, and so cool to have the aux. input and MIDI capability. It's great that you can upgrade to a 3-zone snare and touch sensitive symbal pads.

FYI, you cannot add additional pads (other than a double kick). The volume knobs on the module and bass pedal could be a little bigger. Color coded cables would be a plus. The HH sounds and adjustability left me wanting more, and I find the cymbals move around a bit, but really for the price these are fussy comments. I'm yet to find any real fault with it.

I think for the money I would highly recommend this kit, even if you are in a band and gigging occasionally. Take your time to learn all the sound adjustments and you'll be happy.

I'm just getting into drums and purchased this kit, and I can't be more satisfied! The quality on all the parts are great, very solid and sturdy. The frame and the joints are designed well and intelligently, you can adjust everything, nothing came loose or started to flop, even after very hard sessions. Setup didn't take me too long and I'm a new comer, if you are familiar with this kind of stuff it will be very simple.

The Xplorer module comes with almost all the sounds you will need, and plus you can make your own custom kits and customize each and every sound down to very fine details. It's also has demo songs where you can turn off the drums or music and learn drum patterns. You can tinker with the tempo too. There is also the groove check which can help train you keep rhythm.

Overall I am very satisfied with the set. As a newcomer it has everything I need. I can't see myself replacing this kit for a very long time. I would definitely recommend this set to anybody considering purchasing an electronic drum set.

I am really not experienced with electronic sets, but I owned this set for a while, and in my opinion it's a wise decision to stick with acoustics. While I realize there are advantages to electrics, there is no excuse to pay $700 for a set that sounds this superficial. Unless you really need electrics, I would not recommend this.

DTX ...Not bad

I purchased mine used for a fraction of the price. It actually was in like new condition and the only thing missing was a manual.

I used this for everything I could think of. Studio it was great, live it was a blast, and practice was great. It can also be up-graded later on as your needs grow.

One problem is the lack of additional inputs. Also the fact that there aren't that many dual trigger inputs. But You do get what you pay for with this. Sounds are average, nothing when compared to Roland. I sold mine off to get the Roland TD-20!

Great Set

This is a great electronic set for beginners and advanced players alike. there are many different pre-set kits available as well as several spaces to customize your own sets. the included metronome is perfect for quite practicing of speed and tempo. easy to set up and install, this is a must for any drummer! the only annoying thing i experienced with this kit was that sometimes if played on for too long, rolls and just fast hits in general can become a bit sketchy and the triggers tend to jump and accent un-wantingly. overall though great set.
