The 6 drum shells in the Taye StudioMaple Jazz Pack are crafted from specially selected North American sugar maple. The maple shells erupt in an optimum blend of highs, lows, and mids, which makes this series the pinnacle of Taye's drum product line.

The StudioMaple shells are thin and resonant, made from fine maple veneers, cross laminated and molded using state-of-the-art techniques, as well as rigid and durable. They promote low fundamental tones, with superb attack and blossoming of mid frequencies. Everything from the bearing edge to the suspension mounts combine to make StudioMaple Jazz drums among the world's finest percussion instruments.

These drums make you want to play them. Snare drums sizzle, toms open up with defined pitches and the bass drum provides the last word in attack, body, and shuddering sub-lows. Love Taye Drums

I've been playing a Taye Studio Maple kit for a year now and love it. Very easy to tune into any sound you want. The shells are surprisingly thin and resonate beautifully. The only thing I noticed is some of the tom hoops edges aren't perfectly round. Not a big deal because they still fit and tune just fine. The price compared to other North American Sugar Maple kits is unbelievable, and so is the hardware. Taye has the the most useful/universal hardware I have found from any drum company. They make a heavy duty clamp or bracket for any size or application you can think of. Overall the best kit I have ever owned, too bad they discontinued the Caramel Burst color though. They just came out with a Studio Birch kit that I am excited to check out. If you are in the market, you won't be disappointed. If you aren't familiar with Taye, they have been around a long time making the shells and hardware for many of the big name drum companies, now they are also making their own and the drums are amazing!
