Hit it hard, or else
Posted by Kyle23 from West Coast on Jan 3, 2010

This snare is perfect for anyone who plays metal or rock with hammering hits on the snare. But the power the hits is crucial. If you try to go for sensitivity with this snare drum, prepare to be disappointed. If you want a powerful drum for your back beats, you will have a hard time finding better. I got this snare when it first came out and I still love the loud balsy sound it produces. put an Emperor X on this thing (it comes with an Ambassador which i think is too ringy) and it sounds just like the snare on Metallica's Black Album. if you need a new snare look no further!

The Best Rock Snare

This snare is absolutely a must if you are playing Rock n' Roll. This snare will put hair on your chest ... its a shot of adrenalin. It is loud and piercing, but deep and meaty. It makes the rest of your drum set sound secondary ... as they should be.

High maintenance anvil
Posted by Paul from San Diego on Oct 27, 2008
Experience w/product: I own it

Reviewer's Play Style: Classic rock and hard rock
This snare is a freaking anvil. The thing weighs 16 pounds. It's gotta be the heaviest snare in existence. When it's right this thing cranks like a steel mill. But it's like a hot chick--very high maintenance. When I play a 4-hour, 4-set gig I'll have to adjust it two or three times. It needs to be very tight on both heads and the tuning knob needs to be kind of loose. On the outer edges it's incredibly ringy and pingy. You know what I mean? Despite all that, I love it. It's the best snare I've owned. But it's not versatile. It's for hard rock, classic rock, and heavy metal. But like with a hot chick, if you treat it right it'll treat you right. It will eat up drum sticks though.

Lars Ulrich Signiture Snare Drum

This is a great snare drum it's really loud and cuts through the guitar and vocal. The only problem is that it dosent have very good sensitivity. I find to get a good sound out of this snare you really got to hit this thing hard. Also this is one pricy snare drum. I payed over 700 for mine with tax! But this chrome beast is worth is for sure!
