Only Tama Imperialstar comes with a complete set of genuine Meinl HCS cymbals. These high-quality brass cymbals are made in Germany and are sonically matched so they sound great together. They are even lathed for a more refined tonal character. The set includes 14" hi-hats, 16" crash cymbal, and a 20" ride cymbal.

Tama Drum Shells:100% poplar 6-ply/7.5mm
Poplar wood has been used in making drum shells for over 50 years. It offers a full, warm tone combined with medium attack.

Precise Bearing Edges
A drum's bearing edge is one of the most important components in drum sound. Tama's advanced edge-cutting process provides extremely precise bearing edges—which allow Tama shells to ring openly and fully, and provide a wide range of tuneability, sensitivity, and response.

100% Glued Finishes
Some drum companies only affix their wraps to the drum shell by taping the finish at "selected contact points." At Tama, all wrapped finishes are glued to the shell 100% to eliminate warping, buzzing, or lifting. This process allows the shell to resonate fully and consistently. It's more work, but Tama feels the extra effort is worth it, for a difference you can see and hear.

Original Small Lugs
Imperialstar lugs are 10% smaller than the lugs of Tama's previous Swingstar Series for even greater shell resonance.

Drum Heads
Batter-side heads are made of clear 250 microns-thick film for richer tone and greater durability. Ring mufflers on bass drum heads remove the need for additional internal muffling.

Accu-Tune Bass Drum Hoops
A special-formulation hi-tech material offers lighter weight and faster, more stable, tuning than traditional metal hoops. In addition, since Accu-Tune hoops use tension bolts instead of clawhooks and T-rods, head changes and packing up are a breeze.

Spur Brackets
Imperialstar spur bracket features the same look and style as Tama's high-end Starclassic drums and provides maximum durability and stability.

Tom Holder
Tama L-Rod and Omnisphere tom holder systems have received acclaim from drummers for over 25 years. These systems offer easy positioning, maximum flexibility, stability, and greater sound than standard designs which penetrate the shell interior and can inhibit resonance.

Tom Brackets The eye-bolt structure is rock solid, holding the toms in place securely.

This drumset is ok if you are a beginner. The heads are not very good. i would put some Evans heads on the toms and A remo head on the snare. The Meinl hihats have a brassy sound to them. The crash is a little bit to soft. The ride is amazing and the splash sounds pretty good. If i were you i would go with Some Zildjain Cymbals or Sabian B8. On the bass drum put an Aquarian super aqutic 2 head on it . if you want a good drumset with cymbals then get this!!

Amazing drum set for the price, the hardware and the set up is amazing, and I love it. The only issues are, the stock drumheads will give out sooner rather than later, of course. And the Meinl cymbals that come with it ain't to great. Well the hi-hat, the ride, and the free 10in. splash sound good, the crash...not so much. But overall great set.

I've had this kit for a year now and still am really happy with it! I wouldn't really label this as just a beginner set, more along the lines of mid range! The cymbals, drum heads, and fineshes are the only thing really beginner! The constuction, hardware, and sound are definetly of higher quality!!! IMO better than Ludwig,Gretsch, and Pearl's beginner/mid level kits!!!

i bought this drumset at a local music store and i loved when i got it because it was my first drumset after a month or so i got studio rings to muffle the snare and toms. in my opinion this is a good drumset but...the cymbals sound terrible, mainly because they are beginner cymbals but the ride cymbal rings out FOREVER! all the drum heads must be replaced if you want a good sound but overall its a good starter kit to build up on!

This is a very good buy... I'm speechless.

5 Pieces - Toms, snare, and bass Snare pretty good decent sound. Bass has a good loud boom with a pretty good ring. I love the shield on the bass and the black and white style. Toms are okay in my opinion. Though the heads need a bit of tuning.

Cymbals - One word... Awesome. These Meinl cymbals are very good. I'm surprised it came with these. I thought it might come with cheap Stagg Brass CX ones but, no it comes with Meinl. These cymbals are very good quality and have a good-sounding ring to it.

Hardware - Good sturdy hardware that can last a good amount of time. But, its a suggestion that you get new hardware after a while.

Overall a good Tama set that you can always depend on.
