Good Toy Drum Set

I purchased this as a good quality toy drum for a 5 year old. I don't have musical experience but this is a drum for children or beginners not someone with any playing experience. My child loves banging on it. I hope she will learn some rythem and have fun. My problem with this product is that the drum sound is very quiet. Also if you don't hit it just right you get the hitting rubber sound and not drum. I would give this a better rating if it was a little cheaper. Still a better value then toy store drums. My child loves it.

I guess maybe as a practice tool for a beginning percussionist. I got it to lay simple drum beats on home demos. I haven't tried it yet, as the sounds coming from this thing I don't think are really usable. I would return it for a refund, but my 5 & 6 yr olds like beating on it so I guess I'll keep it around for them.

The Simmons SDMK2 is very quiet (it would never be heard over any other instrument at full volume). The sound quality is 'alright' for children and beginners as long as an external amp is used such as the Fender Sidekick 15. I would not recommend it for recording or anything professional, but it is fun for the whole family to practice on.
