Bass Pad Brain, Front Brain, Rear Brain, Side Jacks Cymbal Hi-Hat Pedal

The Simmons SD7K Electronic Drum Kit is the next step up from the popular SD5K, with the expanded functionality that will please drummers and complement any stage. The drum feel is incredibly life-like, with over 300 realistic sounds and an expressive hi-hat. The bass drum pad accommodates a double pedal. With a dual-zone snare pad, 20 preset kits and space for 30 user kits, the SD7K delivers state-of-the-art electronic sounds with USB connectivity at an unbeatable price.

No matter what style you play, you owe it to yourself to explore the world of recording and performance possibilities that electronic percussion offers. The Simmons SD7K Drum Set has live, electronic pads and hand percussion options letting you add exotic sounds that would otherwise require a large and space-consuming collection of instruments. Drum giants like Vinnie Colaiuta and Josh Freese incorporate electronic drums into their live kits, giving them a far broader palette to work from. Plus, with many bands playing live to sequenced backgrounds, electronics are essential for triggering and interacting with your backing tracks. In the studio, the wide variety of sample libraries available make electronic drum sets more useful than ever. Just play the song, and use the SD7K kit's MIDI signal to trigger your choice of samples, and you'll have drum tracks that can be endlessly altered as you mix. Replace the snare, kick or toms, or combine multiple samples for a massively powerful wall of sound.

Bass pedal sold separately.

Pretty good

I needed a reasonably priced set with enough features to be able to work with it for a while... so I chose this one. Overall, the sound quality is good, but I do miss the option of dampening a cymbal after a crash and a hi-hat that pickes up 16th notes. I've learned to play around those limitations. Two of my three cymbals have developed a rattle or buzz that is annyoing. Audiences can not hear it once you are amped, but it drives me a little nuts. I'm having to tighten the screws on the trigger regularly. For the money, I'm satisfied and I'd buy it again.

Nice Kit

Nice kit especially for the price. The bass drum "hole" isnt a hole its more of a dent. I've had the set for about a year and I've never had problems with it regardless of how hard I hit it(and I play metal) The cymbals wont respond after 1/16 and the sounds aren't too realistic but a MIDI connection with fruity loops should fix that. Overall I would recommend this set as a practice kit but dont play it at a gig unless you plan on getting tomatoes thrown at you.

Great Set For The Price

I purchased this set because I needed an inexpensive digital set for my studio. Upon reading the manual I discovered how to get multiple cymbol/hi hat/drum/precussion sounds. Our church recently purchased a Yamaha in the same price range as this one and unlike the SD7K the Yamaha DTX Explorer did not come with any dual zone pads. The only thing is that the MIDI is a little tricky to figure out. You have to program the MIDI recording software to channel 10 and turn off the local sound processor in the module. The really cool part is you can use the internal drum kits and customize and save up to at least 30 different kits not to mention the first 20 that are preprogramed by simmons. Over all if you are looking for an inexpensive alternative to accoustic drums and want a really good kit I would recommend the Simmons SD7K.

I bought this set because I needed something that I could quickly pack/set up at our church. For that purpose, it works very well. However, this hardly compares to an acoustic set. The crash cymbal only has one sound. The ride has two sounds, but it's almost impossible to tell how to make the drum set choose between the two. The hi-hat does not sound very realistic at all (despite the three different hi-hat sounds). The hi-hat does not pick up anything faster than normal 8th notes very well at all. It's nice to have multiple settings for the overall kit, but only a handful are useful. All in all, this kit is a good value if you absolutely need an electronic set, but it's still nothing compared to an acoustic set or a high-end electronic.
