Cymbals for me are the most personal voices in a drum kit and finding the "perfect" ones and not settling for second best has been an ongoing quest. Why not? If you need to accent your shells why not summon up voices that thrill you each time you hit them? Right?

Having had cymbals I really didn't love years ago I made a conscious decision to always strive for the ones I love and never anything less when I became able to afford it.

After finding out the 19" Jo Jo Mayer Fierce Crash was one of the great cymbals I admired the sound of on Mike Portnoy's recordings after 2003 I had to get one. As with any instrument like this and technological effects, you never know what it's really going to sound like, after all, on recordings they're EQ'd, mixed, fixed, and all the rest. I was prepared to be disappointed, but, all I can say is the simmering, metallic Chinese qualities in this crash make it one of my favorites in my large arsenal of cymbals.

It's pricey...but get it if you want a great cymbal voice that's unique and different. It fits in perfectly with my old Zildjians, a Paiste crash that I absolutely love--in fact the Fierce Crash knocked the Paiste down to #2 for me--and other Sabians. And even though I play mostly aggressive proggy hard rock/metal, this cymbal works equally well when I play other genres, too.

I have Jojo Mayer Fierce Crash 18" and 19". I really like the sound they have. It is a killer crash with a blend of china... (about 20%). I really like the fact that this crash is not the glassy hi pitched sounds of ordinary crash cymbals around. These cymbals are very complex, like jojo mayer. they are hand hammered and because of that, the sound of one crash will differ a lot from other of the same size and type. I had to go through 3 pairs of each (18" and 19") till I finally find the perfect par I wanted. I am very pleased with my purchase. I had 4 for value because I believe they are expensive cymbals, but you get what you pay for. This cymbals can be used in many different styles of music, from jazz to trash metal.

oy im glad i bought it because it is one of the best crashes in the world. Its trashy, dark, and warm. It will blend in with every style of music. This cymbal fit just fine with my hhxteme crashes, and my hhxlegacy crashes. This cymbal is a MUST GET. You WILL NOT be disipointed.
