Yes this is an incredible cymbal. I am big into bells and other accent/sound effects. This has a warm, somewhat punchy, deep tone that is beautiful with the mix. By itself, it doesn't sound wonderful but isn't bad- slight rattle sound even with the proper sleeves. You can't compare it to the Zil-Bel because the Zil has a much brighter high pitch. I would buy both for variety... Oh wait, I did!

i found this at my local music store (the 9" version) and loved it from the beginning. after looking at it for many months i finally broke down and bought it, not sure where i would work it into the music but i knew id find a place for it. i didnt use it much at first but started learning to integrate it as the music shifts to accomodate it.

as for the sound, its like nothing ive heard. this cymbal is essentially a bell with a high pitched "ding" sound to it. compared to the zil-bel, the most popular bell ive seen, it is darker and a little quieter with a shorter sustain but, to me, thats a good thing because i get the "ding" sound with a little sustain that soon gets eaten up in the mix. the bell has a lip on it that is easy to hit (unlike the zil-bel that has to be turned upside down, erasing all possible dynamics), so the bell has a multitude of sound possibilities.

this cymbal is not for all musical applications but i am big into prog metal and i find uses for it everywhere.

Great Effect!!! Very heavy and durable. Amazing Price. I reccomend the 9" size. The sound is very earthy and dark for being a cup chime. I've owned this for 2 years and i havent had one problem with it. I Higly recommend this cymbal. Another example of the amazing quality of Sabian Cymbals.
