I first heard this cymbal when a friend played a show. Then I noticed a it was different, kind of trashy but good. I got one for my self and now I use it frequently while playing.

Exiting sounds

Buying cymbals is more of a taste thing than its about whats better etc, put some money in it and you will get things that sound good no matter what brand. I bought mine because the store had a special Sabian discount day 20% off. I wanted something that was a bit different so I went head on for the O-Zone crashes, the AAX ones was sold out and they only had HHX in 16, the only size I wanted.

The sound was something I had to get used to, it sounded more like a china at first but after I someow got used to it I really started to like the dark thrashy sounds, its like a "thang" sound but in a very musical way and nice overtones that fade out very smooth, this is the kind of cymbal that spice up any cymbal setups.

If you tap it lightly it will give this jazzy kind of sound and if you crash it you will get this ragged yet smooth (confusing?) and warm "thannng" sound.

I really like to pair this up with an AAX crash and use the thrashiness against the bright sounds.

Interesting and well crafted.

I've got a prototype of this model in a 10 incher and was bleeding every night just waiting for the bigger parents to come out. Well low and behold here we are. I cannot say enough as to how well these things splash or crash so well. They don't have that heavy metal feel to them so your wrking hard to get a decent sound out of them. They are just the right gauge. Beginners to pros should all have at least one in their set of Sabain gear. Heck not to be out done but anyone with any cymbals should definitely adopt at least one of these babies. Absolutely brilliant. A drummer cannot have a full kit until he or she owns at least one of these.

This is a very unique sounding cymbal that has a very trashy sound and is extremely versatile in the sense that it can work with nearly any style of music. Regardless of your cymbal setup, this o-zone will add a new sound to your repetoire. Hit it softly or hit it hard and you will get an amazing response. The downfall is that it will crack if you play loud all the time! This isn't Sabian's fault, it's the holes that cause it. I've heard if you use Sabian's cymbal cleaner and make sure no dust builds up this problem can be resolved but I don't know if that's entirely true.

Sabian O-Zone crash

I've had the 16" version for about 2 months now and am very satisfied with my purchase. I first heard it when a pro drummer came so my school and it sounded so awesome in the auditorium that I knew I was going to have it. At the very least, this is perfect cymbal for live events. It may be labeled a "crash", but definately packs the sound of a full, quality china.
