This set is a pretty good bang for the buck, I've got to say. The cymbals, however, don't really measure up to most others. Hats: Sound fine closed, but give off a weird ringing sound. Very tinny when hit half open, not a very full sound. Ride: CAUTION: DO NOT USE FOR ANYTHING BUT ROCK. Least versatile cymbal ever. Also, has no real low-end, just a "ding". The bell is the same "ding", but louder. Crashes: Terrible! They sound like crappy gongs. I wouldn't call them crashes, because their sound is almost indistinguishable from a crash. Do not recommend them for anything. The case kind of stinks, also. You can't put a china plus 2 or 3 cymbals in there, it just won't fit. The case would be pretty good if you don't own a china, though. Cymbals clang around in the hard plastic case, no padding or insulation.

I bought this set a few months back to go along with my grestch catalina club mod kit. They sound great, even though I bought the blemished version and saved thirty bucks. The crash sounds great but to get a good explosion, it takes a pretty good whack. Ride is excellent and I have yet to use the 18" crash on account of needing an extra stand. But for the small amount of money, its a great cymbal set. Will work well with the rock band my friends and I are starting.
