I have this and all of the other sabian b8 pros like the crash splash and ride and frankly is one of the high points of the sabian b8 pros! This has an amazing chick! loud and cutting. open is kinda iffy It is ear peicing! besides that half open is pretty good I like it and well all and all its good and is better than my old stagg hi hats so no complaints I would do it again

Good beginner hihats

The B8 pro medium hihats were the first hihats I ever got, and they are still good as new after five years. They just have normal wear and tear, stick marks and the brilliant finish is worn off at the contact points of the two cymbals. These hihats are a great starting point for beginners. They are versatile due to their medium wieght. I've become a moderately heavy hitter over the past two years, and I've used these hihats at my weekly gig for the past few years. They are pretty loud when you wail on them, but they have a wierd tone when hit open. Even the foh sound guy has confirmed that. Maybe it was just my set of hats. The pedal sound is a little muddy for my taste. Overall they have been worth every penny, considering the use i've got out of them.

Don't get me wrong, it would take a tanker trunk to even crack these, but the sound is much different. If you like an ear-piercing high-pitched tone from open hats, these may be for you. Otherwise I wouldn't reccomend them. I'm obviously more for AAX-celerators, Vaults, HHX's, ect. but for someone who doesn't mind sound these would be perfect for your setup.

The closed sound is decent. It's free of overtone and the pedal chick is clean but it's a little overpowering over the rest of the kit. In addition, the semi-open sound is pretty dirty and the hats don't resonate very much. Basically if you're not a musically inclined drummer or can't identify good from bad, these probably would sound fine.

Overall, they don't have a very natural sound or attractive tones at all, but if you're looking for quality and not sound, I would easily reccomend these over the PST's or ZHT/ZXT's.

I just bought these high hats about 2weeks ago & Im in love with them. They have a unique sound crisp sound that I like & I wouldnt change them for nothing in tha world. Sabian's B8Pro are my fav's & I definitley would recommend these to any drummer.
