B8's may be Sabian's entry-level line, but don't let that turn you away. I have played these for a few years now and they are pretty good cymbals. I have this set plus the 20" ride, although the ride needs a little doctoring to dry it out - too much wash. The 16" crash can hold its own against just about anything, but the hi-hats are my dirty little secret. I recently bought a used kit which came with Zildjian New Beats, and I like the B8 hats better! They don't have the harsh, low tone that some hats have. Somewhat (but not too) bright, and very musical. I also play (at church) an 18" B8 medium crash which fits in nicely with the XS20's on the kit. The B8 ride leaves a bit to be desired, the crashes are vey nice, and the hi-hats are excellent. Yes, there are many better-sounding cymbals out there, but for these prices the B8's are the cymbals to beat!

Better cymbals out there...

These cymbals are on the drumset at my church. The crash is ok, but there are much better for just as much. But the hi-hats are the killer. Their "chick" is not solid and is washy and the open sound is just plain bad, no resonance. The cymbals are cheap, and are ok to start with but for this price there are much better, like paiste pst 5.

I've had these hi-hats almost 2 years now, and I've had no problems from them. They sound great too. The crash on the other hand, sounds ok. It's a good beginner cymbal. I had mine for about 6 months, then it cracked. If you get the B8 crash, make sure you have a warranty on it and don't hit it too hard.

Great Great Cymbals

These cymbals are great!!They have the greatest sound for the price. I got this pack 2 years ago and I was impressed, being beginners cymbals and all. The 14" hi hats are crisp, and the 16" thin crash is bright and very toneful. I cracked my 16" thin crash like 8 months ago, but that didn't stop me, it still sounds rad!! It would be cool if they were a little cheaper though, or at least if they came with extras but still a great pack. I just recently ordered an upgraded version, the B8 promo pack, which comes with instead 13" hi hats, 14" thin crash, 18" crash-ride, plus the great 16" thin crash, FOR FREE, with a lot more extra items. Yes sir, I recommend this pack for anyone, not just beginners, or at least the B8 proformance set(same thing but with a 20" ride for a little more cash) because they exceed the sound range of beginners cymbals. SABIAN ROCKS!!

I've had these for almost a year and they sound just as they did when I brought them out of the box. The ride has a slow decay almost like a ping and I love these. I suggest Sabian cymbals great sound and price can't be beat.
