I bought my 13" Sabian Fusion Hi-Hats in 1995 brand new. Since then, I've played many shows and recorded many sessions with these guys. They sound great with metal, rock, and funk. When closed, they sound crisp and just slightly trashy. When open they project through all the loudness of a rock or metal band. They have a defined chick because of the air holes venting the air when closing. They just sound great and work for me. I like them a bit dirty to mellow them out otherwise they can be a little bright at times. I've tried to replace them three different times (mastersound, K/Z, newbeats all 13") and I just can't find a better sound. I guess if it ain't broke, why fix it...?

I Recently bought a pearl export, And managed to bend my crappy bundled'stagg CXg' cymbals out of shape in a few hours....so I went online and did a lil research, Purchased the AA Fusion Hi hats 13'' Boy am I happy at the moment, its the best part of my kit, So clear sounding not, too high pitch, good for indie and hip hop I'd say.

I play all Sabians, and I had a chance to try a pair of 13"s at a store. They sounded incredible. Crisp chick, awesome open sound, and not very gongy sounding. These will definitely replace my XS20's soon.

These hats are awesome. Nice and loud when played in the open and semi open positions. Defined "chick" when closing, and a nice "Metallic", as someone else said, when closed.
