I've owned the Yamaha dtxtreme series electronic before, I tried to turn a Roland spd20 into a mini drum set by adding a bass drum trigger and additional pads. Nothing comes close to the Roland v Drums. They feel and sound amazing. The pre set drum kits are great and fully adjustable in every way possible. I wish the tom pads especially the floor tom were bigger. They look amazing and don't take up much room. The Yamaha kits don't even come close. Those huge rubber pads feel horrible. Stick with Roland

I've owned the TD-9 with the mesh heads for 2 weeks now. Great sounds, easy to customize. I think it is a very inspiring drum tool to practice and experiment with. Disappointed with the Quick Record function as the files are written in Rolands proprietary language (.TD9) so you can't play the recordings on anything other than another TD9. You can however record in a traditional fashion, line out to a separate recording device. Other than that, very happy with product.

I got this kit today and all I can say is WOW! I haven't had any experience with V Drums prior to this kit. However, this kit has blown me away. The sound quality is superb, especially with good headphones! There are quite a few drum presets and tons of instruments that can be assigned to the given pads. One problem is the Kick Pad could be a little larger in order to sense both kicks a little better. I will be purchasing the mesh kick pad as soon as I get the money. All in all this kit is a great buy for first time players or people who have been playing for many years!!

Being able to program the rims to cymbals has given me a grand total of 6 now (solid). I like that I can edit drum and cymbal parameters. The hi hat controller is a little weak. The crash and ride aren't responding or just cut out. Otherwise, I love this kit. the sound is amazing!!!

I tried one of these out at a music store the other day. I've always been skeptical of these kits, I never thought they'd sound good...boy was I surprised at the drum sounds booming out of the speakers! I liked the mix of "rock" and "electronic" tones. I was also surprised at the feel of the drums, they had a fair amount of bounce, giving them a feeling similar to real drumheads instead of whacking a piece of plastic. I'd snatch one up in a hearbeat if the price tag were a bit smaller...
