The Roland TD4S is an electronic drum set that is a pleasure to play. TD-4S Drum Module
With 4 times the wave memory of its predecessor, the Roland TD-4S Drum Module is loaded with great drum and percussion instruments and kits. Drum kits can be customized with virtual tuning and muffling for the kick, snare, and toms. Natural ambiance effects can be adjusted as well. Custom Controls
Drum sounds onboard the Roland TD-4S can be customized to suit your personal style. Just like with a real acoustic drum set, the TD-4's kick, snare, and toms can be tuned up or down quickly across a wide range. The amount of muffling can be user-customized as well, from '70s-style choked funk to open-cannon stadium rock.

Coach Mode
The Roland TD-4S is equipped with Roland's acclaimed Coach Mode, which helps you build speed, stamina and accuracy. Five skill-building exercises are onboard, including the new Warm Ups that lets you practice different exercises consecutively for 5, 10, or 15 minutes. The Tempo Check also helps you keep consistent time by lowering the metronome volume when you are playing accurately or vice versa, and raising the click volume when you are playing out of time.

Quick REC
The TD-4S drum set's "Quick REC" feature allows you to immediately record and play back your performance. It's a great tool for listening objectively to what you've played, and charting your progress. And don't forget the TD-4's built-in metronome for keeping yourself in time. If you record with the internal metronome on, the TD-4 Electronic Drum Set can even evaluate your accuracy afterward during playback.

I borrowed a new set for a recording project. The snare sounds were really nice. Tom sounds not too bad. Kick sounds were limited but very useable. The only problem I found with this kit was the hats mistriggered quite often. They don't accept anything faster than 8th notes. I actually plan to buy one of these kits in the near future. I plan to use the kick and brain in conjunction with my acoustic set and cymbals for recording. However, for latin percussion or practice time, this set is fine the way it is. Definitely worth the money.

First drum set I ever got. I needed something small. something of quality (roland makes top of the line stuff). and most of all, i needed a drumset i can just play with out disturbing people since i live in an apartment. i love plugging my ipod into the set and jamming to my favorite songs. great overall quality and hardware. very happy although i spent a bit more then i intended. highly recommend this set for anyone who wants a quality e-set with out spending like 4 grand.

I have had my kit now for about 5 days. I'm a guitar player but as a hobby I record my own material and figured why not have a bass and drum set and bring it all together. While I have ZERO experience to draw from to give an educated review of this set...a few friends who are drummers and who've played for many years sat down and gave my set a try and they were impressed...most especially with the realistic feel of the snare. The different pre-programmed kits sound good, but I plan to use sample software because I'm looking specifically for a hard rock/metal sound and the Steven Slate Drums software seems to deliver that. The only extras you need to buy are a throne and a bass kick pedal. I got a double pedal by Pacifica? which seems to work just fine so far. Overall I'm impressed with my new toy.

I bought this kit with the intention of using this as a boredom eliminator drum kit. And it does have a lot of fun in it. This is my first drum set and so far I am very satisfied with it, and so far I dont have any issues regarding its operation and build quality. Only my neighbor downstairs have a complain since the kick pedal transfer a lot of mechanical energy to the floor that resulted a thud in our neighbors living room. I like the sound quality and the responsiveness of the entire system. I dont have ways in comparing it to other kits since this is the only drum I ever played. I am thinking of upgrading the kick pad into a mesh kick pad. I wish it came with an extra cymbal that I can use for a Ride cymbal. But eventually I added CY-12R/C to the set. I used it one time in a church worship service. And a lot of people were impressed by it. Our pastor is planning to buy one for the church. I can say that this is a good product and I believe it is far more better than the equivalent yamaha drum kit based on my impressions.

compact doesn't mean restrained

I bought this set about a month ago, and I am extremely pleased with my purchase. It is well worth the money, and a great set for people like me who need to play drums in a dorm or play quietly in a garage at 3 in the morning.

Pros: - Relatively inexpensive for an electronic set - Mesh snare - Realistic pads for hi hat and 2 other cymbals (w/ choke capability) - 25 different kits - Versatility and ability to create your own set sounds - Easy, easy setup, like drum setup for dummies easy - You can play quietly in a small space!!!

Cons: - Not many good preset sets - Rubber toms (not a big deal though, you can still roll on them pretty comfortably and quickly) - Kick pad doesn't work well with double pedals; not loud enough when beaters are off-center - Kick pad moves alot and can be weak and aggrivating at times, esp. w/ heavy double bass

However, the benefits of the set realllly outweigh the hassles involved with it so I'd definitely reccomend it to anyone that needs an electronic.

HOWEVER i must add that electronics shouldn't be your first choice; they don't hever have as much feel as acoustic sets, and you look and feel like a clown playing on them, esp. if its at a gig. But, if you do need an electronic set, this is the one to get.
