The vertical design of the Roland KD-8 Kick Trigger Pad gives drummers a better feel compared to reverse-type kick triggers. It also reduces trembling so you get nothing but solid kick sounds from your electronic drum. Can even accommodate double bass pedals-perfect for drummers who want to create complex rhythms. (Pedal not included.)

Great Bass Trigger Pad

I have owned this KD8 for over a year now with excellent results. I use a double pedal with no problems. I have a TD-6 so I adjusted the pad sensitivity for the double pedal. If you use a good bass pedal ( I use Pearls Eliminator pedals) you won't have a rocking problem with the KD8. I do recommend that you use a drum carpet on the floor or it will creep badly. I wanted to upgrade to a KD-85 , but I've heard nothing but peoples nightmares with the product. If I do upgrade, it will be with a KD-120.

I cant break mine

I have been kicking the heck out of two of these for 1-1/2 years, 3 to 4 days a week. I play heel up and bury the beater. Mine look a little rough and are pushed in where the beater hits, but continue to trigger perfectly. Very stable using a single or double pedal if setup properly. You can easily grab this off the stage, pedal and all and put it in the truck. I prefer this to my KD-120 and a spare is easy to carry. If you like the feel from this type of trigger, there is nothing any better. Take care.

Crap for double kick

I personally don't like the KD-8 for two reasons. I hooked up my double bass pedals to it and one was loud and the other was too quiet. This trigger is impossible to use Twin pedals! If you plan on using a single kick pedal its fine. Also when using double kick the product is flimsy.

Decent but in a cheap way. If you have a decent brain, stay away from this kick trigger. It feels good but is unresponsive unless pounded. It also isnt very stable unless set into some deep carpet. I chose to use a regular Roland PD-7 pad for my kick trigger due to its instant responsiveness and solid feel.

Great for beginners, not so much for studio or live music.

Involuntary double-hits galore

The unit feels sturdy, and although I find it quite annoying that it grips so hard to the carpet (makes it hard to move), the thing that really gets me about this trigger is its double bounce. Unless your foot is positioned just right, you are likely to get a quick rebound on every hit. Unsurprisingly, the TD-3 module has a setup to ignore doubled hits within x milliseconds (adjustable), but even then it sometimes makes it through.

I have bought the mesh one, still waiting to arrive. Many complain the mesh is bouncy; I am planning to try a low tension setup and see what happens.
