I have all of the Roland CY cymbals, and this one is surprising. Initially, I wasn't sure about the size, but it has since been positioned as my most used crash - even more than my CY-14's. The weight and response are great. I am going to get a couple more instead of getting a couple more CY-14's.

I got this cymball in a kit I bought at our towns music shop - played great for a month, then it would start to go off without me hitting it. I would be playing the hats . .. then ding I would he my ride. It was with a clearance demo set when I bought it so it probably had a year or so of real intense playing - I did get the warranty - no worys!

I purchased one of these cymbals to upgrade a cheaper Pintech cymbal and the difference was like night and day. This cymbal triggers perfectly and has a very nice sturdy feel to it. I plan to replace the rest of my Pintech cymbals with more of these.

As part of the Roland V-Drum range the buid quality is very good. I have 2 of these with my TD-12s. One is currently a crash, the other a ride. The 3 way triggering when it's used as a ride is really cool. It is a little tricky to play as a ride though as the surface area for stick work just isn't quite big enough. I'm looking to get a CY-15R for the ride then make the current one a 2nd crash. Also, being rubber rather than metal, the feel is a little heavier than a normal ride (this goes for the hi-hats too), but as a crash it's pretty good, and the chokability of it is cool, if a little tricky to get used to (you have to grab the pad rather more sternly than you do with a normal crash). Overall though, I'm pretty happy and it works well.
