It's what I expected, a cheap snare. It is a good value though and sounds pretty nice. The throw-off on mine is horrible and likes to stick, but after replacing that and putting new heads on it should sound great.

When I first purchased my pulse piccolo, I was kinda skeptical, but of course, I took it out of the box and tuned away and it sounds amazing!! Of course, a month later, I changed the head, and still sounds amazing!! I recommend this to beginners and pros alike! I love this thing!!!

I bought this a couple years ago but with a brass body. It snaps and cracks through a live mix nicely. Haven't recorded with it but I bet it would be nice in the right spot. For the money you can't beat this drum...oh, yes you can! I'd recommend it as a great add on and am buying one for my girlfriends 11 year old daughter as she has just started playing "snare drum" in school.

When I saw this snare I thought, "hmmm, I bet this thing is terrible, but I really need a piccolo so I can jam out to some ska". So I decided to buy it. The first thing I noticed when I saw the thing here was the head, it looked terrible. I ordered the evans black resonant tom head because I like the tone you get out of tom heads on snares. First thing I did when it came was take it out of the 13 inch box for my 14 inch snare. Then, I immediately replaced the heads and cranked it up pretty high. It sounded godly... The next day, I decided to see how big d and the kids table would sound with my new piccolo. I hit the piccolo and it had completely stretched the head overnight. So I tuned it back up as high as it would go, and it's stayed pretty consistent. Then the throw-off bent and it took me forever to turn the snares on. So, after the break in process, this snare turned out pretty well, and all my drummer friends envy me. This can be one of the greatest piccolos out there if it came with a better head and better throw-offs. Besides that, get this snare. I do kack rimshots on the thing all the time (busted my finger open once) and the rim still hasn't bent a bit. BUY THIS SNARE, you can't find a good snare this cheap anywhere.

Yes, this thing is cheap. It does have a pretty nice sound though. It's sharp and loud and I love the way it sounds with the snares off. You may want to swap out the top head at least, but I'm playing mine with the origional until it pops. I recomend this snare a hundred times over for it's low price and above average sound.
