The Pearl VX Vision shell pack features two very different shell thicknesses: 6 plies on rack toms and 8 plies on bass drums and floor toms, for incredibly balanced sound. Lower frequencies require greater energy to project equally to match the higher frequencies produced by smaller drums. Vision's unique 6/8 technology makes this possible.

Pearl's 60 years of acoustic research has proven that the interior plies of the shell are the key influence to the overall sonic characteristic of the drum. Vision Series exploits this knowledge to the fullest by using two unique shell recipes of birch and basswood. Birch offers a resilient tightly bound network of cells that tend to accelerate rebounding sound waves making it perfect where mid-range to high frequencies are desired. Basswood provides a slightly softer cellulose composition which tends to slow the sound waves, thus promoting mid-range to low-frequency response. By adjusting the overall balance of one ingredient to the other allows a fine-tuning of frequency response much like Pearl's Reference Series.

Optimized Shell Configuration
The fundamental thought behind Pearl's Award-winning Reference Series was to optimize every component of your kit to respond to its full potential within the confines of its respective frequency range. This was achieved through the usage of premium wood composition and shell thickness via strategic variance in the type and amount of plies. This same spirit of innovation is now available to the emerging musician in the Vision Series.

SST Shell Design
Vision Series offers a sonically advanced recipe of strategically arranged plies of premium wood to maximize frequency response in every component. As with all Pearl drums, each shell is formed from Pearl's SST construction process that uses extreme heat, precision-cut scarf joints, Pearl's proprietary Acoustiglue, and over 1000 lbs. of hydraulic pressure to create the ultimate acoustic air chamber.

Vision Series Snare Drums
Vision Series feature Pearl's legendary SensiTone snare drums that have been the choice of discerning drummers for years. As the name implies these drums provide extreme sensitivity combined with amazing tone and clarity due to their 5-1/2" steel shell that projects extreme volume with articulate response for dynamic power and cut.

This birch set is amazing! The toms have really great tone,the floor tom growls with great energy, and the bass drum really haves a punch. I really love the snare, it haves a really nice crack when tuned properly. And yeah, the heads that came with the set, WOW, compared to other heads that come with drum sets, they are really nice.

This set is amazing! I got this set in metallic orange about a week ago and let me tell you, you will not find a better set in this price range. I did some serious research on this set before i got it. The toms have some serious attack, The Snare sounds good and really loud. And the bass has a very powerfull punch to it. You would be a idiot to pass this set up, honestly.

The sound is great, the bass drum is so powerful and full of sound that for small gigs you don't need to mic. it. I got to hand it to pearl for making a drum set that the broke musician can afford with great sound and quality. Thanks!

I recently bought a pearl vision vx kit in jet black with black hardware with the 8, 10, 12"rack toms and a 14 and 16" floor toms. The toms have loads of attack and the floor toms sound really low and full the bas also sounds very full and punchy. I love this product and would recomendd it to anyone.

I got this drumset in "Metallic Orange" about a week ago and it was awesome! The only things were thatit was really hard to find the sweet spots on the heads. And It was alot more red than orange when I got it. But it sounds and looks pretty good.
