The Kit For All

I first began playing drums approximately two months ago. When I first started looking into buying a kit, I wanted something with a warm sound, with just enough resonance to keep the beat flowing and not have to use my hands or sticks to dampen the sound. I finally settled on this kit. With Pearl's 6/8 technology and the popularity of birch, I decided this would work good, but I didn't realize just how well this kit would actually sound. The 6-ply mounted toms with the I.S.S. mount system, 8-ply floor tom and bass drum, as well as the Sensitone Snare are worth far more than what they charge. It was like picking up right where you left off with an old friend...everything just seemed to flow, AMAZINGLY, at that. Whether you're a seasoned veteran or a beginner this kit is perfect for live shows or studio recording. My only drawback is that the Pearl heads that come with the kit are not as resilient as the Remo heads I now have. All in all, this kit is the best money can buy for it's value.

So I just bought some new drum heads for my VBX concord fade, the old ones being slightly worn out from getting so much action, and I am truly stunned at the tones my VBX can produce now!!! The stock heads sound better than whatever you probably have now, but with evans EC2, tuned to 78' on a drumdial [12"tom i'm speaking of], and broken in with two moongels on the sides is outstanding.
I've never heard a perfect sound until now- and that's no exaggeration. the drum sounds absolutely perfect. 100% one tone in the drum, with a warm, soothing finish. I'm being completely honest: when i finished and gave the drum a real hit i just smiled and laughed a little. i was like a little kid with a new toy. you've got to hear it for yourself.

I went from a low-end Tama kit to the Pearl VBX in clear birch. These drums are amazing. I researched sets for about 6 months and played a ton before deciding on this one. I hate adjectives people use like that they sound "warm", but now I understand that. The toms and bass drum sound like archetypal drums. The snare's very nice, perhaps not the end-all/be-all of snares but it's very versitile. What everyone says about the drums heads is true - I expected to buy the drums and buy new heads along with it, but the stock heads are great. They're very close to Ambassadors and they've got a nice thick slap to them. These drums sound great with my A custom ride and crash, and Z custom hi hats. These are worth the money!

I've owned this set for 6 months now, and I don't regret buying it at all. It produces great sound for recording, as well as on stage. I plan on expanding on the set very soon. I've played on several high quality sets in the past 35 years, and this stands up with the best of them.

I recently purchased this kit and I absolutely love it. It's definitely the best for the price. I paired it with some sabien xs20 cymbals and they sound great with it. The hardware seems really sturdy so far, which was important to me since I will be transporting it to different gigs a lot. This kit sounds great and I would definitely recommend it!!
