A practical solution for those who need a quiet practice set that works for playing live! |
With the Pearl Rhythm Traveler drum set, you get a complete set of quality drums and hardware, specifically designed to be lightweight yet sturdy and durable. Rhythm Traveler shells are manufactured by Pearl's patented Heat Compression Shell Molding System, which is the same process used for every drum Pearl makes. Tom sizes are 10", 12", and 14" in diameter; and their 5" deep, single-headed design allows them to neatly stack for compact travel while producing a great tone for live performance. Rhythm Traveler's wood-shell snare drum is 13" x 5" and produces a very warm, full-bodied snare tone with excellent crack.
If you're like most drummers, rehearsal time is limited. Simply finding a place to practice without disturbing the peace can be tough. But imagine being able to practice anytime of the day or night, on a full size, five-piece kit, without disturbing anyone. Then imagine carrying the same kit, neatly stacked in the passenger seat of your car, to do a live gig. Rhythm Traveler combines both these drumming necessities at a price well within reach of any working drummer. Rhythm Traveler is the go-anywhere, practice-anytime kit of your dreams.
With Rhythm Traveler, you get two complete sets of heads, one for live performance and one set of Pearl's Muffle Heads for silent practicing. Muffle Heads are manufactured of a super-strong mesh fabric that responds like a regular drumhead, while producing virtually no sound. Rhythm Traveler produces the realistic feel of a regular kit, complete with rim shots, every time you rehearse. And the best part is that changing from a practice kit to a live kit is as easy as changing the batter heads and adding cymbals. Speaking of cymbals, the Rhythm Traveler comes with real cymbals for live playing: a 16" crash/ride cymbal and a pair of 14" hi-hats. Thick rubber cymbal mufflers are included for practicing. Rhythm Traveler is great for the working drummer needing a small portable kit, the beginning drummer needing to get started with a quality set, or any drummer that's tired of practicing at someone else's convenience.
Compact Travel
Rhythm Traveler's toms neatly stack to create an extremely compact kit for transport. Every facet of the kit, including every piece of hardware, has been designed with the working and rehearsing drummer in mind. Pearl's sturdy 70W Series hardware offers both double-braced legs and a low-mass, lightweight design, making it the perfect compliment to Rhythm Traveler. You no longer have to have a large vehicle to be a drummer. With Rhythm Traveler your kit can even fit in the passenger seat of your car.
Live Performance
Rhythm Traveler is the perfect kit for most any live performance situation where space, or the lack of it, is a major concern. With Rhythm Traveler, you're set-up, sounding great, and ready to play before most drummers could even unload their set. And when the gig is over, you're out just as quickly. With Rhythm Traveler, going from practice to live performance is as easy as changing the batter heads and adding a couple of cymbals.
Silent Rehearsal
When you're ready to practice, there's no substitute for the feel of a real drum kit. Rhythm Traveler's silent Muffle Heads and cymbal pads allow you to keep the response of a drumhead, and quietly rehearse anytime you choose. Plug in a set of phones and play along with your favorite tunes, or just grab a few minutes when everyone else is sleeping-with Rhythm Traveler anytime can be rehearsal time.
Rhythm Traveler Hardware
Rhythm Traveler comes complete with a full set of Pearl's all 70W Series double-braced hardware. This impressive hardware line was developed to provide maximum stability and durability, while keeping weight to a minimum for ease of transport. Every function and feature on Pearl's 70W Series hardware is straightforward and dependable, with ease of use as the ultimate goal. All pipe joints feature an extended nylon joint bushing providing an extremely strong and stable adjustment system.
Rhythm Traveler's H-70W hi-hat stand offers a direct link pull system for precise feel and strong action, sturdy double-braced legs, full height adjustability and a fully adjustable cymbal clutch. The S-70W provides adjustments for both height and basket tension, and its double braced leg tripod and low center of gravity make it an extremely stable stand. The C-70W cymbal stand provides a 3-section adjustment system, a deep gear cymbal tilter, and sturdy double-braced legs. The P-70 bass drum pedal features a great feeling strap-drive cam system, full adjustment over spring tension and Duo Beat beater for use with both standard and Muffle Heads.

Very Good Kit for Travel

I bought this kit as a travel/practice/audition kit. It's easy to break down/set up. If you're on the go like me, I encourage you to buy this drum kit. It's way better than breaking down my Pro Sonor Kit and easier to carry in the car. I use a Pulse cymbal bag (excellent quality), a Gator soft padded bag (18' X 24") which the entire drums fit into. And I use a Stagg hardware bag for my hardware, throne, etc. 3 bags and I'm ready to go. The kit sets up easily in minutes. I would buy an extra cymbal stand to complete the set. Also, the cymbals are junk (trash em) so use better quality cymbals. This drum kit has made my carrying of equipment a lot easier. Definately worth the money.

I have had this kit for a month now and its amazing. it can fit into small places and is all and all great.
somthings you should be aware of
1. all the toms are singal headed and gives it a big eco.
2. the hi-hat isnt very good but its usable
3. the crash/ride is GARBAGE!!! i got a new ride right a way
4. the mesh pads are a PAIN in the ass to put on you have to take off the head!!! then you have to put the heads back on and tune them!
the snare drum is really nice and all and all it is a nice starter set

This was my first ever drum kit and i loved it...
BUT! I quickly found problems with the bass drum, I had to stuff it full to bursting to get a decent sound out of it and the hardware on it was stripped alot.
Of course, the stock heads and cymbals were crap, quickly solved by a zildjian zbt pack and some remo heads
overall it is a good kit, one you get past the hurtfull teasing fom fellow drummers :(

Fun Fun Fun! Great Little Kit!

I've been playing for 35 years and I own several high end kits.
I purchased this kit for practices with my bands in small rooms and small gigs. I Love it!!! I couldn't believe the quality of the hardware.
There is no junk on these drums! They are sturdy and dependable!
Of course you will want to use real cymbals. I didn't expect them to be good for the price of the kit.
The Hi-Hat stand and the Foot Pedal are truly playable! Not the best, But medium quality! They work and I use them daily.
I cut a porthole on the bass reso and I installed an Aquarian Super Kick I on the bass batter. The bass drum sounds good at a low volume. Perfect for small gigs and practice.
I can't believe the snare! I tuned it to sound good with the stock heads!
The toms like med to high tuning. Of course with no reso's, they sound different than standard drums. I still like them at low volumes.
I played this kit live with full mics twice at outdoor venues and it was great! It also saves my 52 year old back from lugging heavy gear to practice and small gigs. My band mates love the low volume that it produces at practices.
I added two light weight cymbal stands that match the Hi-Hat and cymbal stand that come with the kit and now I have two crash cymbals instead of a crash/ride.

Great Compact Kit

This is a great compact kit. The cymbals that come with it are trash but the hi-hats are actually usable. The bass sounds incredible and requires a light muffling. The toms are a little hard to tune, but if you tune them high they will sound good. The hardware is the usual Pearl excellent quality, lightweight yet works extremely well and is solid. The snare sound incredible. The biggest plus is the compact transport capability. The whole thing will basically fit in the front seat of a car.
