I've been playing a great sounding Pearl brass snare for five years, and now wanting a maple snare. I tried several Pearl maple snares and they were all good; however, something was missing. I never really thought about trying the Eric Singer snare. I purchased it without playing it first. When I removed it from the box, set it up to my liking, and played it... chill bumps popped up all over my body. WOW! This snare sounds awesome. That "crack" sound I kept hearing about from fellow drummers, became an experience. The 10 ply maple with the three air holes, makes this drum sound fantastic. It's loud, smooth, crisp, and clear. This is the best sounding snare I have ever played. It's a "pretty penny," but well worth the money. Get one... you won't be dissapointed.

In my opinion, most 14x6.5 maple snare drums sound pretty similar...big, warm, fuzzy, blah. I strive to NOT sound like other people and this snare accomplishes just that. You get the low pitched warm woody maple sound but due to the thickness and impeccable bearing edge, it also has a higher end clarity. I don't endorse anyone, and don't own any other Pearl products...but the craftsmanship is nothing short of stellar. You can drastically change the sound by changing the top head and/or putting a flanged hoop on it. If you need one snare to cover a lot of bases or want a snare that will stand out in any collection...do yourself a favor a buy this one.

I have owned this particular snare for over a year and I love it. I also have several friends who own it as well, and I have never heard a bad thing about it from any of them. This is an excellent wood snare. 10 ply maple construction, die cast hoops. champagne sparkle finish.. On it's own, it's a beautigul snare, but what makes it really great is the sound. It is one of the best production line snares available today. It can be tuned over a wide range, and it has that warm crack that maple provides. It is also excellent for brushwork, as it is very sensitive and responsive. It is suitable for a wide variety of styles. Unlike lower end snares, it doesn't have dead spots, which means that you can play more of the head's surface and still get a good sound. It has good projection, but it is not overpowering like some of the metal snares can be. I highly recommend this snare to anybody who likes a wood snare. The only drawback that I can see is that it is not available in different finishes.

This past wednesday I was forced to play on someone elses kit at a gig. I was skeptical at first. After one crack of the snare drum I was instantly impressed by it. During the entire set I thought to myself "man this is exactly what I want in a snare". Very warm, punchy and good projection. I'm not too keen on the finish but in the end the sound of the snare is what matters and I think i'm gonna have to make a purchase.

I just got this snare, and I really love it! This snare is exactly what I was looking for. Its sound is very warm and deep (10 ply 100% Maple Shell). Sounds great tuning high or low. The sound is really unique! It is a wonderful main snare that will complement with my piccolo black panther. Therefore if you are looking for a snare with a deep and warn sound, try this one! You will not regret.
