The Paiste Signature Mellow Crash has one of the best sounds of any crash out there, as far as I'm concerned. It's great at louder volumes for quarter-beat crashes, but also opens up smoothly if you just tap it. I have the 16" (which I use with an 18" fast crash), and it's just been a great combination.

This cymbal was not planned for my arsenal. I have the 18" Fast, Full, Crystal, and Power crashes. I got a great deal on a 17" Mellow that I could not refuse. I figured it being a "Mellow" that it wouldn't be very loud. I thought it would be soft and low. When I first hit it, I was very impressed. It is just like the others. It was right there. It is loud and warm - quite the contrary of what I assumed. I have learned not to assume anymore. This cymbal is awesome. The whole Signature line is amazing. Once again, the cymbal masters of excellence did not let me down.

I play this Signature Mellow crash in an 18" and it sings. The sound is super clean with a little shimmer. Has a soft attack and medium decay. This cymbal mixes very cleanly and plays wonderfully in delicate and softer situations. Perfect for cymbal rolls. Surprisingly, I've also found this cymbal to work very well for full-on crashes-on-every-1/4 dynamics. Comparably pricey, but unlike any other cymbal I've played. Fairly light weight but very well made. Take care of your cymbals!

Just bought a 16" & 17" Paiste Mellow Crashes for my set. The best sounded cymbals I have ever heard. I was a fan of Paiste cymbals before, but now I'm stickin with them all the way!
