The Alpha Rock Crash has a very bright, full, glassy, and shimmering sound. Wide range, clear mix. Fairly giving feel. Very strong, cutting, and sturdy crash cymbal for louder playing situations in aggressive musical styles.

Alpha Cymbals were first launched by Paiste in 1992. Since then, the Alpha Series has been highly successful on an international scale. Today, the Alpha brand is synonymous with dependability, and the cymbals are well-known for their first-class sound and fair prices. In 2006, Paiste presented a completely revamped Alpha, which advanced these trusted qualities and took Alpha cymbals to a new level.

In recent years, Paiste has invested heavily into the perfection of its high-tech processes, seeking to faithfully reproduce the principles of Swiss hand craftsmanship in its modern production facility in Germany. The updated Alpha cymbals are manufactured using this top-notch technology. They are then enhanced using traditional hand hammering. The combination of hi-tech and traditional methods brings about never before realized quality levels in a highly efficient production environment. Alpha cymbals thus fulfill high demands in quality and function while taking into account the financial realities of today's active drummers.

Paiste designed the updated Alpha series specifically with the global demands of today's music in mind. Global music increasingly combines stylistic and cultural backgrounds into new musical forms, requiring cymbals with wider application range. By applying modern design concepts to the individual models, Paiste has met these requirements convincingly. The assortment offers a wide choice of models and sizes, and covers a wide range of music styles. It allows the drummer an optimal variety of sounds in the cymbal set. Despite all of these improvements, the company is offering the new Alpha cymbals at unchanged retail prices.

Dont get me wrong- Paiste Alphas are TERRIFIC CYMBALS!!! I have a Ride and used crash from my friend and i love them- but ive started to hear talk that black alphas suck and regular ones RULE! Truth is they are both awesome but one costs LESS! They're not even THAT different sound wise. So im just sayin- think before you buy these because i bought a black alpha and loved it aswell as the regular alphas, and spent less....The same price as an 18" B.Alpha is the same as like a 17" inch Alpha but- basically your gonna end up spending more $$$ on a larger size Alpha or less on the same size with a black coating and tribal styled S on it!

I own the 18" and it is loud and has a long sustain. This thing can really take a beating too. I have had it for over 2 years and it hasn't cracked yet. This is a quality crash for it's price. If you play any type of rock, I definitely recommend this cymbal because it's loud and won't crack any time soon.

Kick butt cymbal

I have the 20" Rock crash and it is one of the best sounding "large" crashes I have heard. It is fast, bright and the sound is perfect. It has a very long sustain. I use it for my follow-up crash. After I hit a few 16's and a couple of 14's I follow up with this monster and it is unreal. I have been playing for 25 years and love the Paiste Alpha. One of the best values in a top end cymbal. My next top choice for a med value cymbal is the PST5.

I use a 17" and a 19" rock crash, they compliment each other very well. They have a really meaty crash, a lot of sustain....but they still sound very musical. I use a full setup of paiste alpha's, and have done some minor touring, and ALOT of local gigging with them. No reason to spend the xtra cash unless your a pro, when you can get a sound like this for half the price.

I got the 18" a few days ago, this is my first Paiste, switching from A Customs and I'm toally happy I did! This is a POWERFUL cymbal! It is wicked loud and I expected a gong sound cuz its so heavy but no! It sounds amazing! I'm planning on getting the Alpha Metal Ride to compliment it but wicked awesome! I LOVE it! Get one!
