I've been playing drum set for about 5 years now, im a sophomore in highschool, been playing percusion for about 4 years, and this is about the best drumset i've ever played on. The bigest thing I realized when I first set it all up is that it was a breeze to tune. I was thinking like okay here goes another 5 hours just to tune the drums, but just in a little under an hour I had them all tuned, and they sounded exelent. This is just an outstanding drumset.

I did not want to take my DWs on the road so when I saw this deal I was cautiously optimistic. After research, I pulled the trigger on the Maple X7s.

I must say this has got to be the best bargain in modern drum sets. I got the seven maple shells and upgraded to premium Remo heads (x14) for under $1k. I inspected everything when I replaced the heads. No manufacturing issues. Good bearing edges, all screws tight, everything in round. There are some obvious cost saving measures, but nothing to compromise sound or looks. For instance, the two floor toms do not have floating isolation mounts, but the rack toms do. Although the bass drum claws are rubber lined, the metal is light, and there are no T-handles, so a drum key is required for tuning. I actually prefer this on a BD that is constantly being put into and out of a case. Those T -handles eat case liners. The interior of the shells are not treated. What impresses me: Orange sparkle lacquer finish is as good as any out there. Mounting HW is solid. Bass drum legs are beefy, telescope and fold. The breathing holes are top notch bolted grommets - no cheap flanged metal here. The whole kit was packed in two boxes. I can't speak for the snare drum since I traded it back for the heads. I have too many snares as it is.

Sonically, these drums sing. If fact, I forgot how lively toms with out reinforcement hoops can be. With the white coated ambassador heads, each drum sings with a tap of the finger. They also seem to have a wide range for tuning, although the heads are still seating, so the 16" floor tom is not quite under control yet. I see no need for any gels or other dampening devices.

In summary, this set is a steal. I can't imagine anyone being disappointed with their purchase.

Well, researched and researched and wanted to get great sounding/looking kit that didn't shred my pocket. Also I play professionally and do many gigs and didn't want to mess up an expensive kit, you know how gigs just wear down your set no matter how careful you are. First off, the different finish's are amazing, I went with lime green and got compliments right away! Upon arrival I threw away all the stock heads and ordered all Evans EC2's with Resonant EC's and boy do these drum sing! Sound like canons and easy to tune. I love the EC's btw, first time for them and I'm a big time fan now! The kick drum sounds great too. Have Evans Batter Emad with Resonant Emad, and also have Evans muffling pad inside just lightly touching the insides of both the batter and resonant heads. And both heads are tuned a bit more to the looser side. Also Use Axis pedals with wooden beaters. Real nice punch to the bass with a snap! I havent used the snare because I have a collection of snares that I prefer to use, so can't comment on it but I'm sure it would say great to. Can't go wrong with this set for the $! For smaller shows or bigger shows I'm now covered with the 7 piece! Extremely satisfied!

this is a great sounding drum set and is a awesome deal, the maple shells tune very easily. the only bad thing is I had to wait about a month for the drums to arrive at my house and the bass drum hoop finish ply is pealing, but the free gifts made up for that. BUY THIS SET

This Drum kit is simply awesome. The tone is great and stays in tune, The snare is definitely applaud-able and just over-all looks GREAT! I definitely recommend this drum kit.
