I ordered this for the band I am currently in. We play progressive/experimental music and this hi-hat tambourine gives me an interesting texture to my playing. I find myself keeping time with my hi-hat more often, which improves my coordination. Rythm Tech makes a similar product, but I was turned off by some of the reviews saying that they broke quite easily. This one seems pretty solid since the entire frame is one solid metal piece; I don't foresee it breaking anytime soon.

Did I hear a tambourine?

Hard to score this one. I like Meinl stuff...well made, fairly priced. That said, this little guy is a very nice piece of gear that looks good and looks like it should last. The problem (or is it?) is that it barely makes a sound when used with the hihat pedal. Now, maybe that's good. Better too little tambourine than too much. But it's barely there even if you jump up and down on the pedal (not reccommended). But...when sticked, it does the job nicely and the rubber coating is a blessing as you don't get that click from the stick impact, just the jingles. I do recommend it but just wanted you to know about the subtle quality of the sound.
