The drum shells feature Mapex's I.T.S. Mounting System in a commitment to the theory of less is more. The mount is compact to enhance overall drum response by mounting to the lug casings for less drum shell contact. The Mapex drum mount also enables you to change drumheads while the tom is still mounted to the tom holder.

The included tom holders are light with little bulk, offering a sleek look and less of a load. The corner friendly double tom mounts have a middle cymbal arm position (not included) for fewer tripod stands on the floor. The stands feature form-fitting memory locks, designed to fit the bottom contour of the mounting bracket to eliminate slipping for quick and easy setup night after night.

I just played my first gig with the Meridian Birch. I have to say, this is a great kit. Easy to set up, sturdy, and most of all it sounds fantastic. The toms and bass drum sound awesome with stock heads tuned well, but I had to change the snare heads. I also was disappointed to see that the snare throw-off has a few plastic parts. The finish is beautiful (I have caramel fade). All in all this kit is well worth the money and should last for years to come.

Wow, this is an amazing set with soome higher end features. I have the stock heads on this set and the toms sound amazing when they are tunned lower thanks to the birch wood. The snair has a very nice defined crack (with a little much resonance for my taste, but thats easily solved) but its very loud! The bass drum sounds good but is a bit quiet... The hardware is very heavy, but very stong and sturdy. I dont care to much for the pedal, it has a very heavy feel to it. All in all, a very nice set with some nice features, great sound and tone and some rock solid hardware
