The 8-ply, 7.2mm all-birch shells of the Mapex M Birch Standard Drum Set deliver an incredible high-end attack, a narrower midrange, and plenty of bottom end punch. The shells have an exterior maple veneer finished with 8 coats of hand-applied transparent lacquer. Complemented by the matching lacquered bass drum hoops, this kit has a gorgeous appearance that's sure to shimmer under the lights. The Isolated Tom System protects the shell's integrity and allows the toms to vibrate freely, ensuring maximum projection and resonance. OS Cymbal Accentuators create enhanced cymbal sustain, and the 500 Series double-braced Performing Artist hardware means your components stay in place, however heavy a hitter you are. Recent improvements include a boom stand with a retractable tilter and a footboard stabilizer for the bass drum pedal. Remo heads all around mean you're ready to go straight out of the box! Cymbals not included.

This drum set is amazing, especially for the price. It sounds good (I think it would sound great if I took off the stock heads and put on some nicer ones) it looks amazing, and it's so much fun to play. I chose this set after doing very extensive research into what I was looking for, and I have been very happy with it. I got the Sabian AAX Crash Pack and some Sabian Xs hats, and the combination sounds awesome. I love this drum set, and I definitely have no plans to get another one anytime soon.

Mapex m birch is the best line of drums in this price range. The finishes are absolutely beautiful, mine is in the new black forest sapphire. The sound and resonance are both great. I actually own the crossover 22 setup, but any m birch is the perfect kit if you want a pro level kit at a bargain price. Worth every cent. The hardware is good for the price. The only real bad thing are the heads, but that can be said about almost every kit. Definately upgrade those to whatever youre into and you will have the best looking and sounding kit almost everywhere you go. If youre considering mapex m birch, stop. Just buy it, you wont be disappointed.

I've been playing drums for about 9 years now, and just recently sold my Mapex Venus Series to upgrade to the M Birch... Wonderful set, of course the factory heads are well factory heads, so changing them would be a better idea. The Black Forest Green is a beautiful finish, and like always Mapex lives up to its name. Great buy for either the beginner drummer, or the expirienced one as well...

I went from a Tama Rock star to my emerald green M-Birch kit and I'm so thrilled with the sound. The kick is killer loud. My bandmates have to turn up the guitars though to be heard now...the only complaint I have is the ease of set up. I play my ride on the left, and I can't get the cymbal close enough without reaching. I put on a cymbal grab arm and that helps, but I have a ridiculous amount of hardware to hold one little tom and my ride. It might be better to just use my old cymbal stand. Getting the toms on and off can be troublesome too, but maybe it's just me. Overall, it's the best kit I've ever played on in 20+ years!

I got my Mapex M Birch for christmas this last year, and i have played it every single day (that i could) since! There are only a few flaws in it-The bass drum needs muffling (just put a blanket in it and its GREAT!), The snare head gets worn out and loses it's texture within an hour of playing (remo weatherking), and the cymbal stands aren't that nice. The Hi-Hat one is fine, The Crash stand isn't a boom, and the boom stand isn't very convenient, because it has 2 different "knobs?" (i dont know the right word for it!) that adjust it, and it just gets kind of confusing, but if you can get it right, they hold the cymbals completely fine! My set is the nicest one i've Ever played on. Better than any Pearl Export i've played on (4 of them) and even better than a masters custom i've played on!
