This snare is like no others in the mapex line The tone is clear and sings when cranked up I found the medium tuning was the best. I own over 25 high end snares and this one is in my top 10.And the elm just adds to the beauty of the drum. I own 3 mapex kits and the craftmanship on mapex is great from the lower kits to the top of thr line. well worth the price
