This snare, in the lower price range, can easily compete with the $800.00 snare drums, when you (Hot Rod the Strat)so to speak. 4 things are needed, Die cast chrome hoops, for various reasons, upgraded/the best you can afford, 20 strand snare wires, Top of the line heads (change both btr. and reso), and last but not least, a ludwig after market internal tone control. The results are simply amazing, if you don't veer from the additions. Especially in the 6.5x14" LM302 model.

The Ludwig Steel snare, you would expect it to be cheap and crappy. I though this too until I bought it. This is a truly fantastic Snare drum. The strainer is "gold" and the 10 lugs make tuning accurate and easy. Despite how fair the Evans G1 that it comes with, it's not very good. Buy an Evans HD Dry with an Evans 300 and you're set. TIP: Tune it tight for a nice snap.

I Got this snare free with a drum set i got off eBay it was a sonar force 3005 (great kit), any way I wasn't expecting much out of it, but I have ended up not using the kits snare and using this. It has an ok body to it and a not too much of a ring just the way I like it. I am also playing on the stock head, so that says a lot. I cant wait to change the head and see what it sounds like, I think I am going to go with the Evans ambassador heat

I picked up one of these snares drums a few weeks ago at a local shop. What a deal! I've got it tuned about mid-range and it has a great crack with lots of body but not a lot of ring...just how i like it. i bought it as a second snare but i think i'll be using it quite a bit. great value, highly recommended!

Currently I have this snare tuned as tight as possible and use it as a piccolo sounding snare (it sounds very much like the 311 snare sound) The tuning range is not as broad as some of my other snares but it rocks supertight
