I'm a huge Ludwig fan, so I'm bias, but Ludwig's entry-level kits sound better than some of the competition's top of the line kits, if you tune it right and use good heads. Wine red looks beautiful. Ships with a tuning key, 7A sticks, plenty of extra parts, but no literature of any kind, so beginners be warned. Vibra-Band mounts are excellent. I highly recommend this kit for beginners, and if you use good heads and spend some real time tuning, pros can get this kit sounding as good as a far more expensive kit. 5 out of 5, Ludwig hit a home run here! Buy this!

First of all I put all new top heads on every drum (all Aquarian- response 2 coated for toms, super kick II for bass, and focus X for the snare), so I can't tell you how the stock heads sound, but so you know, they are single ply remos (which i still have for bottoms and front Ludwig logo bass head) ... And I also got the 400 series Ludwig Hardware Pack with it (Great hardware, no complaintes ... the pedals are awesome, smooth and controlling...)

This drumset is easy to assemble, and easy to tune ... to be honest I've never even tuned a drum before, and it only took a couple of minutes for each drum, like it tuned itself ...

All around good sound from every drum ... Perfect for beginners and intermediate players, maybe even professionals(I can't tell you that, cause I'm not one,) but I have been around drumsets alot as a Bassist, and I know how a drumset is supposed to look, feel, and sound...

So, if you're looking for a drumkit that sounds great, is durable, beautiful, and very affordable ... I recommend this one to you ... This is a great deal!!! It also leaves you some money to buy some nice cymbals. I got all Zildjian cymbals: a pair of 14" ZHT Hi Hats, 16" ZHT Fast Crash, and 18" Crash/Ride...
