I have played Gretsch since I was 12 (nearly 50 years now!) But I knew I could never afford that Great Gretsch Sound after looking at the modern USA Custom line. Then came New Classics. I have the Euro fusion kit with 5.5 x 14 snare. Absolutely amazing! Since my new floor tom is the same size as my old 60's Gretsch, I can compare. The New Classic (14 x 14) is deeper, warmer, just better. The snare cracks or can go fat and deep as well. The toms sing. And, of course, the bass drum does go "BOOOOOM!" I love the old, but man, I'm 'in love' with the New! Slap some EC2's on the toms and you've got heaven written in maple!

The New Classics don't sound EQ'd like other brand name drums. The maple blend shells and silver sealer really bring out the natural resonant sound. They have a warm but bright sound and I can't say enough aboout the thunderous cannon sound that the 22 inch bass drum has. The New Classics are the real thing and the finishes are excellent.

In my 20+ years of playing I've never heard a drumset like the new classics project such beautiful tone. The maple shells on the new classics make these drums resonate nicely and sound clear with a fat bright sound if that makes sense. The bass drum sounds like a cannon right out of the box and the price is not that bad either.

I just got the new classics (American Maple Shells) in deep cherry finish the other day and I am very pleased with the investment. They sound excellent for the price. The bass drum sounds like a cannon out of box and it has a very nice boomy punch to it. The toms have a beautiful resonance to them and they sound nice and fat. You shouldn't waist your time, get the classics and you won't be sorry.

I recently purchased the New Classics in a deep cherry finish, sizes 10, 12, 16 and 22. First off, the finish is beautiful and these drums are made with USA maple. The 22'bass drums is by far the best I've heard in 30 years of playing. It has a deep thunderous boomy sound to it which any drummer would love. The toms have a nice warm sound and they resonate with great response. I would put them up against the Pearl, Yamaha, Tama, and DW higher end models anytime. I highly recommend the New Classics to any serious drummer out there.
