Not too shabby

I bought the Satin Natural kit, it's a beauty. Kick sounds huge for it's size. Toms full and round. Snare not so good, strainer throw off is terribly cheap and won't stay put. Snare is also difficult to tune without choking. Had to replace the wires and reso head right off the bat.

For the money though, a great kit. Very lightweight for us older gents. Mine came with free, decent, lightweight hardware.

I am a collector of drum kits, new and old. A school where I do part-time instruction bought this kit for me to teach with. I was blown away at how comparable it is to the classic Gretsch sound and, yet, how versatile the shells are. And this is a LIGHT kit. I must have one for gigging, because this kit holds its own with my birch DW's, Jasper Gretsch's, Slingerlands, you name it. The Evans G1 heads are a perfect compliment, although the kick head is a little thin sounding. Snare sounds very nice. Best deal out there, methinks.

Bought this kit about a year to down size. I use it for every gig I play. The Mahogany Shells produce a fantastic sound. I would recommend this drum set to any drummer in any genre.

I am a professional player and I play the gretch new classic drums. I p[icked up one of these catalina jazz kits for practice and small shows. In my opinion, it is a great sounding kit with very nice features and of course "that great gretch sound." You will probably want to change the bass head, but the toms come with the G1 evans heads and are (in my opinion) the best heads on the market. For this price, you WILL not find a better kit.

In reading reviews the 5 lug tom was a bit of a concern but its not as big a deal as some would have you believe. the kit sounds great I would recommend it.
