The Alesis Performance Pad features eight velocity-sensitive drum pads and a built-in electronic drum machine with professional sounds and features. You can create and record your own beats from scratch or play along with the built-in patterns. With Performance Pad, you can practice quietly with headphones, or plug into an amplifier.

Performance Pad includes foot-switch inputs for a bass drum pedal, hi-hat pedal, and a line-level input to connect a CD player, iPod, computer, or other audio device so that percussionists can play along with nearly any recorded mix. Great addition for the acoustic drummer

playing drums in a dance/cover band, you need to have color to your sound. this unit provides just that. i am able to use the percussion sounds as well as the cymbal effects. handclaps, timbales, reverse cymbals are great additions to my playing and overall sound of the songs. i am also looking into using triggers with this unit to expand it's versatility.

I'm glad I chose this over the regular drum machines I was considering. I'm a guitar player and use this for recording drum tracks. It sounds great, the pads are realistically sensitive, and its easy to use for someone who is not used to playing a full sized drum set. Its alot more fun to play with drumsticks instead of poking at little buttons. It makes recordings sound so much better with a drum track that is actually "performed" instead of a mind numbing repeating loop. I've been laying down one track with the bass/snare, then another with the high hat/symbols/fills(again, I'm not a drummer).

This thing is alot less expensive than full electronic sets but sounds and plays just as good as the ones I've sampled. Go for it!

The performance pad has so many versatile uses. It is a great tool to use for percussion addition, practice or live shows. If you want to travel with light equipment it is very handy. I love it!

First off this isn't a SPD-20 nor should it be compared to it.

My applications for this unit are for demo work, getting drum parts worked out on the road for new material, and using it for electronic drum sounds/aux percussion sounds not acoustic sounds via live performances. For the money and my applications this is a worthy value and it hasn't failed yet. I have it on a snare arm mounted to my rack and no problems with cross-talk. Plenty of options with this unit if you are e-drum friendly via trigger/sampler/midi.

I have had this product for two days, and will say that after 3 hours of playing this machine, I turned around and looked at my old drumset and wondered how much I could sell it for-honest. This machine sounds great, records great, is easy to tweak, and a whole lotta fun to play. Especially because you use sticks. No more being out of breath after a set because with this machine, your toms and cymbals are only INCHES away. Your timing is better, some songs are almost too easy. The pads respond to your drumming very realistically. The closer you play to the center of the pad, the louder the sound will be. The pads are sensitive and respond well to your attack. You do not have to beat on this machine very hard if you don't want to. Well done, would definetly purchase another if lost or stolen.
