A great choice for aspiring drummers everywhere. |
The Alesis DM6 electronic drum set highlights the best of Alesis' 20 years of experience in professional electronic percussion instruments. This electronic drum kit features a completely redesigned sound module with 108 quality drum, cymbal, and percussion sounds. Its drum pads feel great and its hardware and rack system are built to last.
Unmistakable Alesis Feel
Like all Alesis drum sets, the DM6 features realistic, natural-feeling playing surfaces. To reduce vibration feedback, natural rubber drum and cymbal surfaces were selected for the DM6's drum pads. This 5-piece kit gets you started on a dual-zone snare pad for two-sound compatibility. You can dial in a snare drum sound in the center and a rim click, rim shot, or something totally different like a cowbell on the rim.
The Alesis DM6 electronic drum kit also comes with three tom pads, an upright kick drum pad, hi-hat, crash, and ride cymbal pads. It even comes with an Alesis bass drum pedal and the kick pad is compatible with most single and double bass pedals.
Outstanding Sound
The DM6 module features an internal collection of top-notch drum, cymbal, and percussion sounds. You can edit and save your drum kits for custom sounds. You get 10 presets and 5 custom slots. In addition to the sounds, there's a USB output that sends the notes you play out as MIDI signal. This enables you to use the DM6 as a trigger-to-MIDI interface with drum-module software such as BFD, Toontrack, or Reason for a limitless collection of sounds.
The Alesis DM6 has headphone and amplifier outputs so you can play quietly in phones or connect up and rock out. You can also connect your iPod or CD player and mix it in with the DM6's stereo input jack.
Practice Tools
The DM6 module has a metronome, an essential tool for keeping steady time whether you're practicing alone or with a band. The DM6 also has a built-in sequencer with 40 preset music tracks for play along—great practice tool!
Rugged Hardware
A drum set is only as strong as its weakest link. The DM6 Kit mounts on a heavy-duty aluminum rack. The standard 1-1/2" tubing enables you to add on with Alesis and other brands' clamps and mounts. The electric drum kit also comes with a full set of mounting hardware and cables, as well as rugged kick drum and hi-hat pedals.

I bought this for my 11-year old son, and we're very happy with it. The snare is less sensitive than I'd like. Also, at first we couldn't get the kick to work properly - turns out there's a tiny little switch on the back of the module for pad/switch, and it shipped on the wrong setting. The rack is a bit lightweight as well - but overall I'm pleased for what I paid. Compared to the simmons this feels like better quality, and the sounds are very good compared to the simmons.

Good but snare pad was defective

Great bang for the buck. The 2 zone snare played at half the volume of the other pads. Otherwise it is perfect for novices like me who need something small for my home recording studio.
Alesis wanted me to send in the entire kit for repair which would have taken 6-8 weeks! MF came through and is exchanging the kit for a new one. I hope the snare works correctly on the replacement one!
Alesis support = 0, MF support = 10!

Great Value, for the money

The hardware is great/sturdy, and I like the feel/response of all the pads/cymbals. The voices are well recorded; however the brain only alters volume of the voices with the velocity sensors, not tone/pitch/dynamics. Regardless of how hard the pads are hit, it sounds the same only louder/softer. The bass unit is very sturdy and responsive. The hi-hat pedal says it can be used in 4 different positions for more control over the hi-hat, however I do not think the dm6 brain supports this function, as mine just seems to operate open/closed. Playing with non-amped headphones and the volume’s of the voices/kit/main turned to max, leaves much to be desired. The snare sounds weak in comparison to the rest of the pads. I have turned all the voices but the snare down to compensate for this. Overall it is worth the money; remember this IS an entry level electronic drum set. I am using it for practice when I’m at my apartment, and for this purpose, I am happy with my decision on this unit.

This is a GEEAT kit! At first I got it as a spare to use at home, I got my Pearl kit in our parctice space with the band. But man, I am seriously thinking of getting another one for the practice space too. The hardware is solid, no problems with anything slipping, went together real easily. The snare is dual zone, I use snare in the middle and a cow bell on the edge, hat pedal is all metal, the kick pad is super, don't move out of place at all, and I really like the feel of the pads, they're pretty quite and have a good responce. The DM6 brain was real easy to set right out of the box, great sounds, a bunch of nice pre-set kits. I can't believe Alesis packed so much into this kit for the money. I tied a few other electronic kits and they either didn't play as good because the pads were too hard, or the sounds were kind of weak. This kit nailed it, great sounds, solid raok, love it!
