DM5 Triggers

More than 550 hot drum and percussion voices in one rackspace, and all the triggers you need for a standard 5-piece acoustic drum kit! The module sounds include kicks, snares, toms, cymbals, hi-hats, and a wide variety of percussion instruments and special effects. DM5 can be used as a MIDI-controlled module for sequencers or by drummers who use electronic drum pads or triggers mounted on acoustic drums. Includes 12 trigger inputs. Random Sample function to create more realistic performances. Also features 16-voice polyphony, 7-position user-programmable panning, footswitch and headphone jacks, and custom backlit LCD.

The triggers include 4 industry-standard DR-1 removable Red Hots and one KD-1 removable kick drum trigger. Rated at 6.4kHz for ultra sensitivity, the rugged, reliable DR-1 has long been the pro's choice for adding electronic punch. The KD-1 features a larger-diameter sensor naturally tuned to the bass drum's dynamic range while the 14" cable, larger adhesive strip, and standard adhesive lockable jack make placement a breeze. Both trigger types feature 1/4" molded input jacks and heavy-duty, shielded 20-gauge cable that resists errant stick hits.

I haven't used the triggers that came with this unit--I upgraded to dDrum triggers, but that aside I've been enjoying my new DM5. At first I was stumped by the dedicated input labels on the back (kick goes on 2, snare on 3, etc.) because I have more than 3 toms, but the manual guided me through changing the voice family for any input, so I'm pretty happy with that. The band is enjoying quieter practices and the variety of sounds that I can produce now. There are some cool industrial and percussive effects if you're into that. I do recording gigs at home for different artists and hope to get a lot of work with the DM5. It's not going to play like acoustic drums--I'm not going to be able to trigger rolls, but for your standard grooves I think this brain is a really nice option and save you the mic channels, EQs, tunings, etc. I installed Kontrol mesh heads and they have an awesome response. Now I just have to buy new cymbals!

This module is awesome! It has all the settings you can imagine and enough voices to stump you on selecting effects.

I use it with a 5 piece Tama Custom kit and 4 roland pads. No double triggering or any issues with sound quality from the settings, sensitivity is great, sound quality is amazing.

I have used the DM5 for years. (since it first came out) I started with a DM4. I've used it live with great success. I've also used it in various studio situations with excellent results. A person does need to realize that and that an electronic kit is an entirely different instrument from the acoustic so it requires some adjustment in your playing style and approach. I do recommend higher end triggers, like trigger perfect, or DDrumm. The lower end ones will blow out.

Check their repair service during & after warrany and get it on paper. I've got one with nothing but trouble from day one. Have spent 100 plus just to be told they couldn't find problem. Still have problem contacted manfacture again & they recommend another service center. Another 100 plus dollars would be wasted just to be told no problem. Unit is NOT dependable. Can't use for PAID CONTRACT gigs or studio because of failure probablility causing money & time lose and embrassment. Contact me if you want the whole story!
